France and Germany are set to face each other on Saturday, 23 March in an international friendly as both teams prepare for Euro 2024. As tournament hosts, Germany have been playing friendlies for a while now but their form has been a great cause for concern since their World Cup exit in 2022. The opposite can be said of France, who are seemingly nothing other than a winning machine under Didier Deschamps.

France vs Germany H2H record
As two European powerhouses, the France vs Germany rivalry is one of the greatest in international football. Between them, they share six World Cups and five European Championships and it wouldn't be a surprise to anyone if either side adds to that this summer. In total, they have played each other 33 times.
- France Wins: 11
- Draws: 7
- Germany Wins: 15
Arguably the best and most famous encounter between France and Germany came during the 1982 World Cup when the two sides met in the semi-finals. The match finished 3-3 after Extra Time before Germany won the penalty shootout to progress to the final.

France vs Germany last five H2Hs
Germany 2-1 France – 12th September 2023
The most recent Germany vs France H2H came in September 2023 in what was Germany's first match after they sacked Hansi Flick as manager. Rudi Voller took temporary charge and produced an instant response after a shocking run of form under Flick. Thomas Muller gave the Germans an early lead before Leroy Sane put them 2-0 up late on. Antoine Griezmann scored a penalty to bring Fracne back into it in the 90th minute but there wasn't enough time for them to mount a serious comeback.
France 1-0 Germany – 15th June 2021
France and Germany last met in a competitive match during the delayed Euro 2020. The two teams were drawn together in the group of death alongside Portugal and Hungary and met in the opening round of fixtures. A Mats Hummels own goal in the first half got France off to the best possible start while it left Germany with work to do to qualify. Both teams would qualify from the group before suffering shock exits in the round of 16.
France 2-1 Germany – 16th October 2018
France faced Germany in the UEFA Nations League in 2018 in Paris. Both teams were looking to qualify for the first-ever final of the tournament but Germany were already all but out of contention after picking up just one point in their opening two games. They made it three games without a win when they lost 2-1 to France in Paris thanks to two goals from Antoine Griezmann in the second half to turn the game on its head following an early Toni Kroos penalty.
Germany 0-0 France – 6th September 2018
The last time these two teams drew with each other was in September 2018 in the opening match of the 2018/19 Nations League. It was the inaugural year of the competition so nobody really knew what to expect and this instantly forgettable goalless draw did nothing to raise excitement levels. Germany were marginally the better team and had the better chances but they couldn't get past Alphonse Areola in the French goal.
Germany 2-2 France – 14th November 2017
Germany and France met in November 2017 in an international friendly in Cologne. Unlike some other friendly matches, this one didn't disappoint and was played at a great intensity with both nations preparing for the World Cup the following year. France led twice thanks to goals from Lacazette either side of half time but they were pegged back, initially by Timo Werner, and then by Lars Stindl in the dying minutes.

Potential MVP – Kylian Mbappe
Kylian Mbappe has been the star of this French team since 2018 when he became a certified world start at the Russia World Cup. Mbappe now has 46 goals for the national team despite only being 25-years-old and is just five shy of Thierry Henry in second place on the all-time goalscoring stakes.
Mbappe will likely overtake Henry during the European Championships this summer while he will also be looking to close the gap on teammate, Olivier Giroud, who is ten ahead of the PSG man on 56 goals. At the age of 37, Giroud doesn't have long left in a France shirt which means it's only a matter of time until Mbappe become the outright top goalscorer for his country.
Key trend
Looking at the France vs Germany last five H2Hs, Didier Deschamps' men have only lost once in recent times against their old rivals. When you consider Germany's poor form (two wins in their last ten matches) it's difficult to see this trend coming to a halt on Saturday night. France to win is priced at 5/6 (1.83).
