Whisper+ analysis
Authenticity (2.5/5): Delap on Everton's radar
Everton are preparing to revamp their goalscoring options next season, having set their sights on Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap.
The story comes from Teamtalk, who add that a number of Premier League clubs, including Brighton & Hove Albion, are on Delap's heels heading into the summer.
Value (4/5): Relegation release clause
The 22-year-old's contract at Ipswich includes a £40m release clause that will become active once the Tractor Boys get relegated. Currently, 12 points away from safety, that scenario seems to be destined, handing a huge financial boost to his suitors.
Suitability (4/5): Old-school number nine
The Englishman is an old-school striker, who likes to use his physique and smart movement to get the better of defenders in and around the penalty area. With 12 goals in 30 Premier League appearances, Delap has underlined he has the killer instincts needed to shine at the top level.
Upgrade? (4.5/5): New option for Moyes
David Moyes is expected to lose Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer and Armando Broja is also likely to return to Chelsea upon expiration of his loan deal. As such, there will be a huge void to fill and there aren't many better options than Delap, in that regard.
Logic (1.5/5): Plenty of options
The Merseyside outfit will have to compete with some of the Premier League's biggest clubs to lure Delap to join their project. At this stage, the pursuit seems very tricky for Everton.
Whisper+ verdict: 16.5/25
With the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea keen on Delap, it's best for Everton to look elsewhere.
