Whisper+ analysis
Authenticity (2/5): Teamtalk unclear on sources
David Moyes is keen on adding firepower to his attack after Everton ended the Premier League season with fewer goals than any other side. The Toffees have accordingly approached Real Sociedad and Takefusa Kubo over a potential move.
That is according to Teamtalk, who are keeping their source information close to their chest.
Value (3/5): Sociedad willing to listen to offers
The La Liga club wants to keep the 24-year-old and are in a strong negotiating position, as the Japan international is on a long-term contract until 2029. However, they would “reluctantly consider” offers in the region of £34.6million for their star forward.
Suitability (3.5/5): Technically proficient winger
Kubo, a left-footed attacking player, possesses excellent ball control and link-up ability. He likes to operate in tight spaces and has the ball-striking to test goalkeepers from any angle in and around the penalty area. He was directly involved in 11 goals in all competitions this term.
Upgrade? (4/5): Replacement for departed attackers
Both Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom have returned to their parent clubs, Leeds United and Napoli, respectively, leaving Moyes with a very thin attack.
Not only would Kubo's arrival fill their void, but he has the potential to be a significant upgrade on the pair, who scored a combined one goal in the league last season.
Logic (3.5/5): New challenge
It is reported that Kubo is open to taking on a new challenge and is interested in joining a Premier League club. As such, an opportunity to join Everton and become a focal point of Moyes's attack should appeal to the ex-Real Madrid talent.
Whisper+ verdict: 16/25
There are question marks on the reliability of the report, but on paper, Kubo makes a lot of sense for Everton.
