Europa Conference League top scorer betting: Marmoush to lead Frankfurt to glory?

Europa Conference League top scorer betting can be difficult with 24 teams still left in the tournament, as the knockout play-off rounds start on Thursday evening. The winners will then join the other eight sides who automatically qualified for the round of 16, with the draw set for later this month.

As such, we have taken a look at the favourites to win the UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) according to betting markets, their corresponding odds and the most likely candidates from each team to finish as the tournament's top scorer:

Aston Villa – 3/1

Aston Villa are currently favourites to win the UECL, as betting markets forecast them to follow in the footsteps of fellow Premier League side and 2022/23 UECL winners West Ham United. Villa finished top of their group with 13 points, sending them straight through to the round of 16 with 12 goals scored along the way.

In terms of players most likely to finish as UECL top scorer, Ollie Watkins is probably the best bet. He netted twice in the group stage, and domestically, he is Villa's top Premier League scorer with an impressive 11 goals – ranking him joint-fifth in the current standings. John McGinn could have an outside chance too, as he also scored twice in the group stage. However, they would both do well to overcome the current UECL top scorers, with Gift Orban (Gent), Benjamin Nygren (Nordsjaelland) and Eran Zahavi (Maccabi Tel Aviv) all leading the way with five goals each.

Fiorentina – 7/1

Like Villa, Fiorentina are automatically through to the round of 16 after topping their group with 12 points, going unbeaten and scoring 14 goals in the process. As such, betting markets make them second-favourites to lift the trophy come May.

In terms of who could top the scoring charts come the end of the campaign, centre-back Luca Ranieri impressively netted three times in the group stage, although there will be doubts over whether the defender can keep up that kind of goalscoring form. Nicolas Gonzalez is Fiorentina's top domestic league scorer with seven in the Serie A this term, but with just the one goal in the UECL so far, the winger has a lot of catching up to do.

Eintracht Frankfurt – 12/1

Despite finishing second in their group, Eintracht Frankfurt are third-favourites with betting markets to win the UECL. They are doing well domestically, currently sitting comfortably in sixth place in the Bundesliga, and have recent success in European competition – winning the UEFA Europa League in 2021/22.

The odds of one of Frankfurt's players finishing as UECL top scorer are enhanced by the fact they have two extra games to play than the likes of Villa and Fiorentina, as they are in the knockout play-off round – facing Union Saint-Gilloise over two legs with the winner advancing to the round of 16. Omar Marmoush is fresh from representing Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and would be the German side's most likely candidate with four goals in the competition already. Junior Dina Ebimbe also has an outside chance with two UECL goals to his name, and he is the third-highest scoring Frankfurt player in the Bundesliga with three goals, only behind Marmoush and Ansgar Knauff.

Real Betis – 13/1

Real Betis are the first team in the list to have dropped down from the Europa League, so the odds of one of their players to finish as UECL top scorer are pretty slim. However, having come down from a superior competition, it is no surprise to see them fourth-favourites with betting markets to win the tournament.

In terms of who could race up the top scorer charts, Willian Jose is Betis' highest scorer in La Liga with seven goals this season, while Isco is on his tail with six. Betis also have the advantage of playing two extra matches in the knockout play-off round, as they will hope to beat Dinamo Zagreb over two legs to reach the round of 16.
