We now know that Spain and England will battle it out in the final of the Euros in Germany, and have made a Euro 2024 top scorer prediction and odds reflecting on who has made their mark in the tournament.
There are currently six players tied at the top of the charts with three goals each: Cody Gakpo (Netherlands), Georges Mikautadze (Georgia), Ivan Schranz (Slovakia), Jamal Musiala (Germany), Dani Olmo (Spain) and Harry Kane (England).
However, only Olmo and Kane remain in the tournament, and Olmo would win the Golden Boot as it stands, on the basis that he has the most assists (two) out of the six players. But can he cling on? Read on to find out…
Euro 2024 top scorer prediction and odds: Current markets
Here are the players that the bookmakers give the best chances to for finishing as the tournament's top scorer. If the Golden Boot is shared, then dead heat rules apply, with the bookmakers' pay-out divided by the number of joint winners, as explained here.
Harry Kane (England) – 7/4
Of all of the players that can finish as the top scorer, Kane is the favourite with bookmakers. He grabbed his third goal of the tournament from the penalty spot in England's 2-1 win in their semi-final against the Netherlands, and could use that momentum to strike again in the final.
Dani Olmo (Spain) – 5/2
Olmo is currently leading the Golden Boot race by virtue of assists, but he did pick up a goal in Spain's 2-1 win over France in their semi-final. That put him on three goals for the tournament, and similar to Kane, could give him the momentum to strike again in the final.
Cody Gakpo (Netherlands), Georges Mikautadze (Georgia), Ivan Schranz (Slovakia), Jamal Musiala (Germany) – 11/1
Given that both Kane and Olmo could strike again in the final, it is not a surprise to see the other four current joint-top scorers priced further out by bookmakers. Should no Spanish or English player produce any significant haul though, these four players will still be in contention.
Jude Bellingham (England) – 25/1
Bellingham is a big outsider to finish as the tournament's top scorer with only one game to go. The midfielder does have two goals to his name in the tournament, but would need at least one more goal in the final to be in with a fighting chance.
Fabian Ruiz (Spain) – 33/1
Ruiz is even further priced out by bookmakers, despite boasting two goals and two assists to his name. The midfielder tends to play in a deeper role for Spain than Bellingham does for England, but given that Spain are the bookmakers' current favourites to win the final, Ruiz could have a final say.
Euro 2024 top scorer prediction and odds: Our pick
Dani Olmo (Spain) – 5/2
On the basis that Olmo is already the joint-top scorer and has the potential to add to his tally in the final, we think that he will end up finishing as the tournament's top scorer, whether that would be shared or as an outright.
Olmo's strike in the semi-final will give him the confidence to look to repeat the trick in the final, and given that Spain are currently the bookmakers' favourites to win it over England, we just about fancy Olmo over Kane.
