Whisper+ analysis
Authenticity (3.5/5): Widely reported interest
Al-Nassr are flexing their muscles in the European transfer market, having agreed personal terms with high-profile striker Jhon Duran, who has also attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain and West Ham United.
The Saudi Pro League outfit's interest in the Aston Villa man has been widely reported but French publication L’Equipe (via Standard) are now claiming the Colombian have given the “green light” to a big-money move.
Value (3/5): Villa open to £60m deal
Villa turned down a £57 million bid for Duran from West Ham earlier this window, suggesting they want to keep hold of their prized asset. However, now it is being claimed that Al-Nassr could get the deal done for a fee in the region of £60 million.
It appears the 21-year-old's desire for a transfer has softened Villa's stance.
Suitability (4/5): Brilliant profile for Saudi
Duran is an old-school number nine who likes to use his physicality and movement to get the better of defenders.
Considering how well the similarly-profiled Aleksandar Mitrovic is doing in the Gulf, we expect Duran to be an absolute hit in a league filled with ageing titans.
Upgrade? (3.5/5): Ronaldo to move out wide
Now just days from turning 40, Cristiano Ronaldo is currently Al-Nassr's first-choice striker. Considering Duran's age and profile, he would likely become Stefano Pioli's new first-choice number nine if he moves.
However, don't expect Pioli to bench the Portuguese legend just yet, as he remains the front and centre of the Saudi Pro League's project. And even with his well-aged legs, Ronaldo could still go back to his roots and play as a left-winger with Duran on the pitch.
Logic (3/5): Money Money Money!
With 12 goals in all competitions, Duran is having a prolific campaign. However, he remains second fiddle to Ollie Watkins at Villa. As such, it makes sense that he is looking to leave.
Still, deciding to move to Saudi Arabia at such a young age suggests he and his camp are thinking about only one thing…
Whisper+ verdict: 17/25
Having already agreed personal terms with the player, it seems Al-Nassr is all set to pull off another blockbuster signing!
