Crystal Palace new signings: Confirmed ins and outs for summer 2024

Crystal Palace were embroiled in a relegation battle for the majority of the season under Roy Hodgson, but their fortunes turned around once Oliver Glasner stepped foot in Selhurst Park.

The Austrian has yet to taste defeat as Palace boss and will hope to build upon a strong end to the 2023/24 season. However, doing so will not be easy, as Michael Olise has already left the club this summer.

Crystal Palace has been in the headlines a lot this summer, although most of the talk has centred around departures. There was less focus on Palace's transfer targets. However, they have still managed to complete some very shrewd business, which should improve the squad.

Chadi Riad

Riad was Glasner's first recruit, arriving from Real Betis for around £14 million. The Moroccan international has also played for Barcelona but is now ready to test himself in the Premier League.

The young centre-back will certainly get playing time, and he fits the bill when it comes to Palace's strategy this summer, which was signing players who would be long-term solutions, even at the expense of some experience.

Ismaila Sarr

Arguably the most impressive signing thus far is Ismaila Sarr for just over £12 million. Sarr was a prominent figure in the Premier League during his time with Watford and then did well with Marseille, so this could be a very exciting signing that fans will love.

The Senegalese winger fills the offensive gap left by Olise's departure.

Daichi Kamada

The 28-year-old attacking midfielder was a free agent when Palace pipped Lazio to his signature. The Japanese international could prove to be Palace's smartest signing of the summer, given his versatility in midfield and the fact that he came to Palace for free.

Maxence Lacroix

When it comes to defensive targets for the Eagles, the main story revolved around Wolfsburg's central defender Maxence Lacroix and on the final day of the summer transfer window, the Frenchman signed for Crystal Palace. Lacroix will be the new member of Crystal Palace after the Eagles paid a reported fee of £18m.

Eddie Nketiah

One of Crystal Palace's main targets for a long time this summer was Eddie Nketiah, but the Eagles were one of many Premier League teams interested in signing the forward.

However, Crystal Palace were able to complete the deal and win the race, paying a reported fee of £30m. Nketiah will get his chance to shine at Palace since he'll definitely be their key piece on the offensive end.

Other signings

On the final day of the summer transfer window, in addition to Nketiah and Lacroix, Crystal Palace also signed two more players on season-long loans – Matt Turner from Nottingham Forest and Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea.

Crystal Palace have also signed a few young players this summer, all on a free, including Louie Moulden, Jemiah Umolu, and Kurai Musanhi.

Palace have certainly saved themselves in the past few days by signing Sarr, who is a very good recruit, especially for the price. He will prove to be a major asset for the Eagles having provided 49 goal involvements during his time in England.

However, the loss of Olise was a major blow and they are yet to splash the cash Bayern Munich handed them for the Frenchman, and that does bring their grade down significantly.

The likes of Riad and Kamada will also be very good pieces of business, especially given their low fees, and should allow for some more progressive and forward-thinking football under Glasner.
