Here are our AFCON predictions for the Quarter-Final meeting between Congo DR and Guinea. Congo DR vs Guinea prediction – Betting tips & odds

Hot Tip – Congo DR to Qualify

  • Congo DR have won each of their last four meetings with Guinea.
  • Each of Congo DR's AFCON 2023 matches have ended in draws at the full-time whistle.

Another reason why we're backing Congo DR to qualify in this game is that Guinea had an easier group and first-round match than Congo DR.

Congo DR vs Guinea team news

Congo DR

Congo DR managed to defeat Egypt without their chief playmaker Gael Kakuta, taking the lead through Meschack Elia in the thirty-seventh minute. Egypt did equalise in first-half stoppage time via a questionable penalty and the game went into extra-time. Neither side managed to find a breakthrough in the thirty minutes of extra-time and the game had to be settled on penalties. Egypt had a man sent off in extra time and it came back to haunt them in the shootout as their goalkeeper Mohamed Gabal had to take one of the spot-kicks, missed, and Congo DR converted to win 8-7 on penalties.

Predicted Lineup: Mpasi (GK), Mbemba, Masuaku, Batubinsika, Kalulu, Wissa, Moutoussamy, Pickel, Bakambu, Bongonda & Elia

Guinea

Guinea faced Equatorial Guinea in their knockout tie. The game appeared to be heading for extra time with the teams poised at 0-0 deep into stoppage time, only for Mohamed Bayo to score a dramatic late winner for Guinea against the ten-men of Equatorial Guinea who had Féderico Bikoro sent off in the second half and missed a penalty.

Predicted Lineup: Koné (GK), Jeanvier, Sylla, Diakhaby, Sylla, Diakité, Diawara, Konaté, Camara, Guilavogui & Bayo

Player to Watch: Yoane Wissa

Brentford's Ypane Wissa is having a great time at AFCON 2023 with Congo DR.

The 27-year-old has played in every game so far, providing a key outlet for his team when going forward. With 22 caps and four goals to his name, Wissa is one of the more experienced players in the Congo DR side and the only one who plays his club football in the Premier League.

We're backing Wissa to put in another top performance for his country this week and believe he will help guide his team through to the semi-finals, by hook or by crook.
