Former Strasbourg head coach and new Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior could look to recruit three key RCSA players at Stamford Bridge.
At the beginning of January, after Chelsea decided to part ways with Enzo Maresca, the Blues appointed Liam Rosenior as their new head coach, with the Englishman leaving his post at Strasbourg to take charge in west London. The Alsatian club were satisfied with Rosenior’s work, but the 40-year-old understandably seized the opportunity to manage in the Premier League.
Strasbourg were subsequently forced to appoint a new head coach, with Gary O’Neil taking over. Beyond this unexpected managerial change, questions have now emerged over whether Rosenior could attempt to bring some of his trusted players from Strasbourg to Chelsea. An initial indication has now come to light.
Emegha, Doukouré and Penders on Chelsea’s radar
According to TeamTalk, Chelsea are exploring the possibility of negotiating the arrivals of three Strasbourg regulars after consulting Rosenior. The Blues are keen to strengthen their squad immediately during the January transfer window. The three players in question are Emanuel Emegha, Ismael Doukoure and Mike Penders.

Emegha has already signed for Chelsea and is due to arrive at the club next summer. However, with the London side searching for attacking reinforcements this winter, the Dutch forward would not be opposed to making the move to England earlier than planned. In addition to Emegha, Chelsea have also been impressed by the performances of goalkeeper Mike Penders, who is currently on loan in Alsace.
Chelsea and Rosenior yet to make a final decision
With Filip Jorgensen having expressed a desire to leave, Chelsea could be forced to look for a replacement between the posts. As a result, Belgian goalkeeper Penders has been mentioned as a possible return option for the Blues this winter. He would then compete with Robert Sanchez for the number one spot at Stamford Bridge if the move were to materialise.
Meanwhile, Ismael Doukoure is appreciated for his versatility. A natural centre-back, the 22-year-old is also capable of operating in midfield. Should Chelsea fail to secure their priority target Jérémy Jacquet during the winter window, the Frenchman would represent an interesting alternative to strengthen Rosenior’s defensive options.
For now, Chelsea and their new head coach have not made any definitive decisions regarding these three Strasbourg-linked cases. However, the situation could accelerate towards the end of the transfer window. If the Blues struggle to find suitable reinforcements elsewhere on the market, the club’s hierarchy could turn to their multi-club network in order to secure quick and accessible additions.
