With Lucas Chevalier’s arrival at Paris Saint-Germain, Gianluigi Donnarumma is set to leave, with three Premier League clubs showing interest in the goalkeeper.

Chevalier is expected to be PSG’s new first-choice keeper this season and beyond. The club has made this decision and now hopes to offload Donnarumma this summer, one year before his contract expires. The aim is to secure a transfer fee and avoid managing a situation where both goalkeepers share the spotlight.

According to Le Parisien, the Premier League is seen as the most likely destination for the Italian. Manchester City and Manchester United, both searching for a new number one goalkeeper, are already involved. The Saudi market could also meet Donnarumma’s salary demands, which have previously been a stumbling block in negotiations with PSG. Notably, Donnarumma is among the top 10 favourites for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.

RMC Sport reports that Chelsea are also interested in the former AC Milan keeper. However, the Blues have only made preliminary enquiries so far. It’s worth noting that, according to the same source, Donnarumma has no intention of joining a club whose sporting project does not appeal to him.

He is even considering staying at PSG for another year to leave on a free transfer and choose his next destination. One thing is clear: he will not leave simply to help PSG’s finances. Meanwhile, Le Parisien suggests the European champion is likely to try to facilitate his goalkeeper’s departure.

The transfer fee could be lower than expected for PSG, with Transfermarkt estimating Donnarumma’s value at around €40 million (£34,5 million) . In any case, the ball is in Donnarumma’s court, who also needs regular game time this season to be in peak form for next summer’s World Cup in the United States.
