Our Chelsea predicted lineup for their game away at Crystal Palace in the Premier League (PL) on Monday night is the same XI that got beat 4-2 at home to Wolves in the league last time out. The Blues have a lot of injuries in the squad, and so it is difficult for Mauricio Pochettino to rotate at this moment in time.
Nonetheless, we have given some analysis on the players in that predicted lineup, using odds from betting markets to add some tips on scenarios that could happen during the match involving them.
Chelsea predicted lineup analysis
Djordje Petrovic should start in goal for Chelsea again in the absence of Robert Sanchez. He has generally received positive reviews since stepping in between the posts, keeping four clean sheets in 14 appearances, and could keep his place once Sanchez returns from injury. Malo Gusto and Ben Chilwell should start at right and left-back respectively, while Axel Disasi and Thiago Silva should be the centre-backs.
The full-backs boast four assists between them, but are also among the most ill-disciplined in the squad with five yellow cards each. The two centre-halves offer a decent goal threat, with three goals between them in the league, while Disasi wins more aerial duels per game (2.5) than any Chelsea player. Palace have shown vulnerability from set-pieces all season, and so we are backing one of Chelsea's centre-backs to score.
Thiago Silva to score anytime – 13/1
Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez will be expected to form a double-pivot for the Blues, with Conor Gallagher playing in a more advanced role. The latter two were on target in Chelsea's 3-1 win at Aston Villa in the FA Cup in midweek, with Fernandez scoring a sumptuous free-kick. However, the Argentine is the only one to net in the PL so far this season, and he only has two goals to his name.
However, Gallagher is joint-top assister in the squad with four, and so will be expected to create chances for his teammates against one of his former teams at Selhurst Park. One thing these three do have in common is ill-discipline, with 16 yellow cards between them, and one red for Gallagher. Nonetheless, the Englishman will be hoping for an overly positive performance on his return to the Eagles.
Conor Gallagher to be shown a card – 5/2
Cole Palmer is the first name on the team sheet for Chelsea given his performances this season, while Raheem Sterling should flank the other wing with Christopher Nkunku leading the line. They have 17 goals and seven assists between them, although Palmer claims the majority of those with 10 goals and four assists to his name alone – leading in both of those metrics for his club.
Nobody in the Blues squad takes more shots (2.4) or makes more key passes (1.5) per game than Palmer either, so he is very much in our thoughts when it comes to betting markets. Sterling also poses a strong threat on his day, as he averages more dribbles (1.8) and is fouled most (1.7) per match of any Chelsea player. Nkunku is also enjoying a healthy run of games since returning from injury too, and will also be one to watch.
Cole Palmer first goalscorer – 6/1
