Having booked their spot in the semi-finals of the Taca da Liga in midweek, Sporting CP get round 10 of the Portuguese Primeira Liga underway when they visit the Estadio Municipal de Rio Maior to face Casa Pia on Friday. While Sporting will be looking to return to winning ways in the league after a recent dip in form, the hosts have steadied their ship and will be eager to take advantage of the visitors’ league struggles, but at 6/25 (1.24) the bookies have the Leoes as clear favourites here, which users can take advantage of using the Ladbrokes welcome offer.

A resurgent Casa Pia side made it three consecutive away wins across all competitions last Sunday when they edged out Estrela Amadora 2-0 in their Primeira Liga clash at the Estadio Jose Gomes.
Coming off a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Campeonato de Portugal outfit FC Alpendorada in the Taca de Portugal third round on October 18, Joao Rego and Lawrence Ofori netted in either half to fire the visitors to a comfortable victory.
Having failed to win their first matches, Casa Pia have now picked up three wins from their most recent four matches across all competitions, including consecutive Primeira Liga away victories over Estoril Praia and Estrela on either side of a 1-0 home loss to Santa Clara on October 10.
This upturn in form has seen Casa Pia rise from the foot of the Primeira Liga standings into 16th place, level on seven points with Nacional and Rio Ave, but a win could see them move level with 11th-placed Famalicao.
Having punched down consecutive cup-and-league victories in their most recent two outings, Casa Pia will head into Friday’s tie feeling good about their chances as they look to snap a dire run of nine consecutive defeats at the hands of the visitors.
However, results on home turn offer little room for optimism and remain a cause for concern, having failed to win seven of their last eight Primeira Liga matches at the Estadio Municipal de Rio Maior, losing four and claiming three draws since the start of April.
Meanwhile, after an encouraging start to the Primeira Liga campaign, Sporting CP have seen momentum take a hit in recent weeks, and with the Leoes already nine points adrift of first-placed Porto, the title race is already developing into a demanding contest.
Rui Borges’ men bounced back from two consecutive stalemates against Famalicao and Arouca with a 3-1 victory over Braga at the Estadio Municipal de Braga on October 9, but they were sent crashing back to earth last weekend, when they suffered their first defeat of the league campaign at the hands of newly-promoted Academico Viseu.
Brazilian midfielder Joao Guilherme grabbed the headlines for the Academico, netting on either side of Luis Javier Suarez’s 62nd-minute equaliser to hand the newcomers a statement victory and condemn the hosts to a 2-1 defeat at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.
However, Sporting CP will draw encouragement from their immediate response in Taca da Liga on Tuesday, when they secured a much-needed 2-1 victory over Maritimo to book their spot in the cup semi-finals thanks to a brace from summer signing Pedro Lima.
Coming off last season’s second-placed finish, Borges’ side have picked up five wins and three draws from their nine Primeira Liga matches to collect 18 points and sit third in the league table, four points behind second-placed Benfica and nine off league leaders Porto.

Whispers’ prediction: Casa Pia 1-3 Sporting CP
After stumbling into the season, Casa Pia appear to have hit their stride, but they have their work cut-out against a well-drilled Sporting CP side, and we predict the visitors’ superior quality across the pitch should see them emerge victorious here, which is currently priced at 6/25 (1.24) by the bookies.
Sporting CP have led at half time in their last six games against Casa Pia, making HT/FT – 2/2 at 4/5 (1.80) a favourable punt, while over 2.5 goals at 57/100 (1.57) is our third pick of the game.
With both sides scoring in seven of the Leoes’ last eight games, Sporting to win + BTTS – Yes at 187/100 (2.87) serves as the value bet for us, while the correct score market has a correct score of 1-3 at 10/1 (11.00).
