Whisper+ analysis

Authenticity (4.5/5): Brentford search for Mbeumo's replacement

Brentford are yet to find an agreement with Manchester United for the transfer of Bryan Mbeumo but they have started exploring the market to find his potential replacement.

As per Fabrizio Romano, the Bees are interested in Ipswich Town star Omari Hutchinson.

Value (2.5/5): Expensive deal

In the summer of 2024, Ipswich made the ex-Chelsea talent their club-record signing by agreeing to pay over £20million for his services. He still has four years left to run on his contract so the Tractor Boys are likely to demand a considerable fee despite their relegation to the Championship.

Suitability (3.5/5): Dribbling wizard

The 21-year-old is known for his quick feet and tendency to frequently take his man on. His close control is also brilliant, allowing him to glide past defenders in tight spaces.

Upgrade? (3/5): Mbeumo replacement

Hutchinson mainly thrives as a number 10 but he is capable of playing on the right flank and could prove to be a promising option to possibly fill Mbeumo's void in west London. However, the attacking midfielder needs to work on his end product. He was only involved in five goals in the Premier League last term.

Logic (4/5): Appealing move

Apart from the obvious lure of the Premier League, Brentford's attacking style of play could help Hutchinson spend more time in the final third, allowing him to make the most of his technical prowess and exciting vision.

Whisper+ verdict: 17.5/25

Romano underlines that even though Brentford admire Hutchinson, they are yet to open talks with Ipswich for his signature.
