Whisper+ Analysis:

Authenticity (2/5): Bournemouth identify Ramsdale as Arrizabalaga alternative

Bournemouth have reportedly earmarked Southampton's Aaron Ramsdale as a potential target if they fail to sign Arrizabalaga on a permanent deal.

That is according to Football Insider, who claim Bournemouth view Arrizabalaga as their first-choice option following his successful loan spell at the Vitality Stadium. However, they are willing to consider alternatives if they are unable to reach an agreement with his parent club Chelsea.

Value (3/5): Ramsdale has relegation release clause

Ramsdale only joined Southampton from Arsenal for £25m last summer. However, there is a strong possibility that he will leave the club at the end of the season. The goalkeeper has a release clause which will become valid if the Saints are relegated, although it is unclear what amount Ramsdale will be available for.

Unfortunately for Southampton, relegation is all but guaranteed to drop down to the Championship, with 19 points separating them from safety.

Suitability (4/5): Plenty of Premier League experience

Ramsdale may be experiencing a tough campaign with Southampton, but he would bring valuable experience to Andoni Iraola's, having made 175 Premier League appearances during his career.

The 26-year-old also has previous experience of playing for Bournemouth after featuring in 37 matches for the Cherries before leaving in 2020.

Upgrade? (3.5/5): Kepa replacement

Bournemouth will only make an effort to sign Ramsdale if they fail to secure a permanent deal for Arrizabalaga. The Spaniard has been fairly reliable this season, but Ramsdale is at least of the same standard as the Chelsea loanee and would be a viable alternative.

Logic (4/5): Chance to stay in Premier League

Crucially, a move to Bournemouth would allow Ramsdale the chance to continue his top-flight career, which is important if the former Arsenal man wants to secure a place in England's 2026 World Cup squad.

Ramsdale also knows the club well from his first stint at the Vitality Stadium, making it an appealing option if it becomes available.

Whisper+ Verdict: 16.5/25

Ramsdale would be a strong option if Bournemouth fail to secure Arrizabalaga on a permanent deal. However, there are some doubts about the reliability of the source and the seriousness of Bournemouth's interest.
