Blackpool vs Watford: Our top betting tips

Watford lost their first game under Slaven Bilic's leadership in the week. Will they bounce back with a win as they travel to Blackpool? Find out with our Blackpool vs Watford match preview with free tips, predictions and odds mentioned along the way.

Watford to find a way to win

Slaven Bilic was quickly brought back down to Earth in midweek as his new side lost to Swansea, however, it is hard to ignore the display the Hornets put in at Stoke in Bilic's first game; that 4-0 win is a large chunk of why we fancy Watford to win. There are two other components we've considered as well though. Firstly, Blackpool are now winless in four games having lost three and drawn one and, secondly, Watford dominate the recent head to head meetings having won each of the last three clashes between the sides. With odds of 6/5 (2.20) we think that's real value.

Going over 2.5 goals

Our next prediction for this match sees us backing over 2.5 goals. Watford have a strong record for supporting this tip having seen each of their last three games clear the 2.5 cut off with an average of 3.7 goals per game, however, Blackpool's form is less convincing with just two of their past five matches going north of the 2.5 mark. The head to head record firmly puts the probability back in the ‘over' stakes; three of the last five meetings have gone over 2.5 goals and the last clash between the sides saw a whopping nine – yes, NINE – goals.

Will Bilic's boys bounce back to beat Blackpool?

Watford, as they commonly do, wasted no time in changing managers this season as they languish off the pace at the top of the table. After a first game win for Slaven Bilic things looked rosy before, boom, another loss arrives. If the Hornets want to get into that promotion party, then they simply have to be beating a Blackpool side struggling close to relegation. The trouble is, that's not easy because the Seasiders are desperate for points too.

Blackpool are struggling this season with the teams in the relegation places very much snapping at their heels. Having Jerry Yates up top will give them half a chance of getting results but injuries to half a dozen first team players isn't helping them. Lewis Fiorini is likely to be the first back but it won't be in time for this match.

Blackpool Predicted lineup – Maxwell, Connolly, Ekpiteta, Thorniley, Thompson, Patino, Dougall, Wright, Lavery, Madine, Yates

In pure talent terms, Watford could easily top this league but, at the moment, they're just falling short of those levels. Losing players such as Tom Cleverley to injury don't help in that sense but there is some good news. Joao Pedro could be back fit.

Watford Predicted lineup – Bachmann, Mario, Kabaselse, Sierralta, Kamara, Choudhury, Kayembe, Sema, Asprilla, Sarr, Davis
