A draw will do
We kick off our predictions by backing this game to end level. Watford have struggled for form of late winning two and losing three of their last five and the picture of consistency isn't much better when you focus purely on their home form. Even then the Hornets have won two, lost two and drawn one. Given Blackpool arrive here having won just once but also having only lost once in their last five, there is a strong case for the points being shared. Blackpool have drawn each of their last two away games too and the head to head record doesn't tell us a great deal either with two Watford wins, two Blackpool wins and a draw in the last five instances of this fixture!
A match lacking goals
Meetings between these two have been high scoring in recent years but we don't see this clash being loaded with goals. That's why we're predicting the action to go under 2.5 in the total goals market. Watford have only passed the 2.5 mark in one of their last five games – and in none of their last two. Blackpool meanwhile served up a 4-1 thriller last time out but prior to that had seen three of four games end under 2.5.

So, that gives you some insight to how the different bookmakers see the action unfolding. How though do the bookies odds translate into probabilities ahead of this game and how might that impact your view of our predictions? Let's find out.
Watford odds: 4/5 (1.80) – 56%
Draw odds: 8/3 (3.67) – 27%
Blackpool odds: 13/4 (4.25) – 24%
Watford are odds on favourites to win this game with Blackpool seen very much as an outside bet with even the draw market being priced up a smidgen above what we'd deem average draw odds to be. The bookies might be pretty sure what is happening in the match result markets but that's not true of the total goals. The standard go to 2.5 threshold sees both over and under options south of the evens line.
Check out the predicted lineups ahead of Watford vs Blackpool
Watford
The Hornets come into this game as favourites to win but their list of unavailable players is becoming rather bonkers. Of the nine players currently ruled out, only one is avoidable with Hassana Kamara being suspended after receiving a straight red. Joao Pedro, Dan Gosling and Hamza Choudhury are amongst those injured.
Predicted lineup – Bachmann (GK), Cathcart, Sierralta, Kabasele, Morris, Bacuna, Ngakia, Kalu, Gaspar, Sarr, Davis
Blackpool
Blackpool find themselves caught up with a series of injuries like their hosts with six players – including Liam Bridcutt and Kevin Stewart – sidelined. Callum Connolly is another who won't feature in this game; he is suspended. The Seasiders won't mind though, a close to unchanged lineup is likely anyway with Jerry Yates the only one likely to make the XI that didn't start last time.
Predicted lineup – Maxwell (GK), Lyons, Ekpiteta, Thorniley, Husband, Lavery, Carey, Patino, Hamilton, Poveda, Yates

Player to watch
Blackpool attacker Jerry Yates is enjoying the best season of his career at the moment – certainly when you consider the fact he's in the Championship – and after a rather dry patch he both assisted and scored last week as Blackpool beat Nottingham Forest. His goal took his tally for the season into double figures. He will be the biggest threat to the Watford backline in this game without question.
