Predictions and Tips for Burnley vs Birmingham

Burnley will be defending their undefeated record in home games against a Birmingham team that is chasing a top-six finish to give themselves a chance for promotion playoffs.

Draw

Even though Burnley has been terrific at home this season, they are the only team without a loss and are on a streak of three wins in a row, the history of these teams, and the fact that they are among the teams this season to play the highest amount of draw games gives us a glimpse into the possibility of a points split. Both of these teams played eight draw games this season, and when it comes to their h2h, three out of the last four matches ended the same way.

Burnley looking to protect its home turf

Burnley

Burnley was relegated from the Premier League last season but is looking for a quick comeback. The season in the Championship is at the halfway point, and Burnley is looking good. They are the best team in the league with only two losses in 23 games, and with a three-point advantage in front of second-placed Sheffield United. More importantly, as the top two teams will have a direct patch to the top division, Burnley is eight points away from third-placed Blackburn. They are the only undefeated team in the league at home with eight wins and four draw games. Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany was named the coach in July, and he has done a tremendous job in his first stint as a coach. He will have an injury-free squad to face Birmingham.

Burnley's probable starting 11: Muric, Maatsen, Beyer, Harwood-Bellis, Vitinho, Cork, Cullen, Gudmundsson, Brownhill, Benson, Rodriguez.

Birmingham

The Championship season is as close as it can get when it comes to a fight for the top-six finish. Even the teams from the bottom section of the rankings still hold hope they can turn their form around and get themselves closer to the promotion battle. For some that fight is probably too optimistic, but not for Birmingham who is two points away from the sixth-placed QPR. Birmingham's main strength is their defense has allowed only 22 goals this season, and that fact will give them a chance to contain Burnley's attack which is by far the best in the league. Like their opponents, Birmingham hired a new manager for the season, the decision was made to make John Eustace their coach. He is doing a good job thus far, but he might think about all the points his team lost in close matches during the first part of the season. There are still lots of games to be played, and Birmingham certainly has a chance to fulfill their goal and potentially play in the promotion playoffs.

Birmingham's probable starting 11: Ruddy, Trusty, Roberts, Sanderson, Colin, Emmanuel, Mejbri, Bielik, Bacuna, Chong, Deeney.

Player to Watch: Scott Hogan

Jay Rodriguez has nine goals for Burnley this season, but he has a lot of help in getting opportunities to score. Scott Hogan, on the other hand, also scored nine times, but he did it with limited help from his teammates. He scored a third of all the goals Birmingham recorded this term, and he is their most important player.
