Top 5 best Premier League strikers: A surprise inclusion for 24/25

We have ranked the top five best Premier League strikers ahead of the new 2024/25 season.

It wasn’t an easy task, but we have taken many factors into account (not just goals) to come up with a definitive list. There are obvious names on the list for sure, though one or two might raise a few eyebrows…

Best Premier League strikers: Our top 5

5. Kai Havertz (Arsenal)

Perhaps a surprise inclusion to kick us off considering that he has also played many games as a central midfielder, but Kai Havertz kicks off this list. The Arsenal man was shifted to a number nine position by manager Mikel Arteta midway through last season, and it seemed to have worked.

Indeed, Havertz managed to score 18 goals in total over all competitions in the centre-forward position, and his height and link-up play were especially appreciated by his teammates in and around him. Indeed, no other Arsenal player averaged more aerial duels won per game in the Premier League (2.8) than the Germany international.

4. Ivan Toney (Brentford)

It is somewhat of a surprise that Ivan Toney has not earned a move to a bigger club as of yet, and so he remains at Brentford for now. His 2023/24 campaign was massively cut short by a lengthy ban due to betting, but he still remains one of the best strikers in the Premier League.

Indeed, before last season, Toney managed 12 and 20 English top flight goals respectively, and also has a unique talent when it comes to taking penalty kicks. The England international's record is remarkable, scoring 30 of the 32 penalties he has taken in his club career so far.

3. Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)

Ollie Watkins really came into his own last season, scoring a total of 19 goals in the Premier League and also leading the assists chart (13). His goal contributions played a large part in Aston Villa finishing in fourth place and qualifying for the UEFA Champions League for the upcoming season.

Watkins is as complete of a striker as you will find in England's top division, as he can also run in behind with the pace he possesses, as well as hold the ball up for his teammates with his incredible physique.

2. Alexander Isak (Newcastle)

One may be able to guess who tops our chart already, but we think that Alexander Isak is currently the second-best striker in the Premier League at the moment. The Newcastle United talisman netted an impressive 21 league goals last term, and has been linked with some big-money moves.

Of course, the Magpies will want to keep hold of him for as long as possible, but they may be forced to sell in the not-so-distant future, in order to help comply with the top flight's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). Nonetheless, the Sweden international combines blistering pace with deadly finishing to make him one of the most feared players in the division.

1. Erling Haaland (Manchester City)

No surprises here, as Erling Haaland is our pick for the best striker currently in the Premier League at this moment in time. He is not just one of the best centre-forwards in the league, but in world football as well.

Indeed, Haaland has won the Golden Boot in each of his two seasons in the top flight so far, and broke the all-time record for the most goals scored in a Premier League season in his debut campaign, netting 36 times in total. If Manchester City want to win an unprecedented fifth league title in a row next term, they will have to keep Haaland fully fit and motivated.
