6th April – Deportivo Cali vs America de Cali: The Clasico Vallecaucano

The Clasico Vallecaucano, or the Valle del Cauca derby in English, is the derby between Deportivo Cali and America de Cali, both based in Cali, Colombia. It is a rivalry dating back to the early 20th century, with Deportivo Cali thought to attract fans from the wealthiest parts of Cali, and America de Cali from the poorest.

Deportivo Cali have generally got the better of the H2Hs, winning 125 of the 337 matches, while America de Cali have won 105, and there have been 107 draws. However, the latter are unbeaten in the last four H2Hs, winning twice, and at the time of writing, are one point and three places above them in the Primera A.

Deportivo Cali vs America de Cali prediction

Given how close they are in the league, and the fact Deportivo Cali have home advantage in front of their own fans, we think this game could end up as a draw. Both teams play on Monday morning before this fixture next weekend, and you can get 19/10 odds on America de Cali beating Independiente Medellin away from home, and 15/13 odds on Deportivo Cali to beat Rionegro Aguilas at home.

8th April – Real C.D. Espana vs. C.D. Olimpia: El Clasico Moderno

El Clasico Moderno, or The Modern Classic in English, is a derby competed in Honduras between Real C.D. Espana and C.D. Olimpia. It is thought of as the most aggressive, violent and strongest footballing rivalry in the country, between two of the most successful teams.

Indeed, they are the only two “Tricampeones”, meaning three consecutive championship victories, and in 250 H2Hs, Olimpia come out on top having won 95 compared to Real Espana's 54, with there being 101 draws.

Real C.D. Espana vs. C.D. Olimpia prediction

Olimpia are currently top of the Liga Nacional Clausura, with five wins and five draws from their opening 10 games, crucially remaining undefeated. Real Espana are four points behind in fifth, and are winless in seven previous H2Hs. Thus, we expect a win for Olimpia here.

Mid-April sees two teams from south-east Nigeria in Enyimba and Heartland face off in the Nigeria Professional Football League. These are two of the most successful teams in the country, with Enyimba, who previously played as Aba, the most successful with nine league titles, all coming this century and their latest one coming last season.
