With the days of overpowered Belarusian beasts long gone, your assistant manager is one of the most important staff members in any Football Manager save.
Whether you rely on them for opposition instructions, team talks or to handle the press, the Assistant Manager is a key member of your coaching staff, and getting it right can be key to a successful time at any club.
With your assistant manager effectively acting as you for any role you have no interest in doing, the right assistant manager can work in harmony with you to deliver on your promises.
You can even build a relationship with a top assistant manager and bring them with you as you move jobs. With that in mind, let's take a look at our picks for the best assistant manager you can sign in FM 2024.
The best Assistant Managers FM 2024 has to offer
Each of the best assistant managers FM 2024 features at the start can provide something different, but these are statistically your best options.
Roberto Samadan
With high scores for ‘determination', ‘motivating' and ‘people management', Samadan is the closest thing to an Assistant Manager cheat code you are likely to find.
As well as having almost perfect 20s in those three main stats crucial to the role, he also prefers probably the two most popular formations used in FM24, namely the 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1.
Samadan is also great at working with youngsters, given his Head of Youth Development role at the start of the game. He has a determined personality as well, which is a very strong option for FM24.
Edd Vahid
Maintaining the theme of hiring Heads of Youth Development for Assistant Manager roles, Edd Vahid is another fantastic option.
At the start of the game, he's at a Southampton side freshly relegated from the Premier League, which would make him a fairly easy pickup. With ratings of 17 in the three key stats, his high level of determination and ability to work with youngsters also make him a good option.
Much like Samadan, Vahid uses the 4-3-3 and is a determined individual.
Joao Sacramento
Joao was a champion in FM23, and things have not changed in FM24.
One of the most unique aspects of Sacramento is his 20 rating for adaptability. While we've selected him here as an Assistant Manager, he's amazing as a performance analyst or as a coach.
You might have issues keeping him long-term as a result, as many other clubs will try to sign him, but if you can keep him on a good contract he's a great option.
With high determination, and a driven personality, Sacramento is also our first pick that is a natural assistant manager.
Dennis Bergkamp
We'll move away from the statistically best now, and move over to those who offer something different. Be that another stat that makes them shine, or just the vibe we have off them.
Bergkamp is one of those assistant managers. He lacks in people management and judging players, but he has amazing attacking and technical stats.
Admittedly, this could make him a better option as a coach, but we're not all managing giant clubs in Europe, so Bergkamp can be an option.
Jason Tindall
Lastly, we are going for our wild card pick, Jason ‘Mad Dog' Tindall. While his stats don't scream “best assistant manager”, something about him just works. We've used him on two separate saves now, and there's just something magical about him that we cannot describe.
Tindall has a fairly professional personality, and fairly average stats alongside his preference for 5-2-3 or 4-4-2 formation. But a little like Callum Wilson in FM22, Jason Tindall just seems to have some sort of magic spice that makes him better than he should be.
