Bayern Munich transfer news: Vincent Kompany eyes six January signings including three Liverpool targets

Bayern Munich have several targets in sight for the January transfer window, which is fast approaching. Liverpool are concerned by three names on the German club's shortlist.

The Bavarian side, managed by Vincent Kompany, are in full flow in this first part of the season, with first place in the Bundesliga as well as the Champions League. Impressive form, which does not prevent Bayern Munich's management from looking elsewhere for the winter transfer window, in Germany and across Europe.

Bayern Munich eyeing three defenders

Journalist Florian Plettenberg provided an update on the German outfit's various targets for this winter. In defence, notably, whilst Frenchman Dayot Upamecano is still out of contract in June 2026. Bayern are thinking about another player whose contract ends at the end of the season, namely Marc Guehi. The Crystal Palace Englishman is nevertheless courted by numerous major European clubs, such as Liverpool, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Manchester United and also Chelsea.

German Nico Schlotterbeck is far less monitored, probably because his contract expires later – June 2027. The Borussia Dortmund centre-back is valued at €40m (£34.2m) by Transfermarkt and is also courted by Liverpool. The number four will nevertheless not be released easily, if Bayern move beyond the interest stage to send an offer.

Also worth noting, the Bundesliga leaders' interest in Feyenoord right-back Givairo Read (19 years old), under contract until June 2029 and valued at €20m (£17.1m). The Dutchman could compensate for Sacha Boey's departure – to Marseille?

A little higher up the pitch, promising Nathan De Cat (17 years old) is another target followed by Liverpool. The precocious midfielder attracts attention from other sides – Arsenal, Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, PSG, Real Madrid – and his fate could be decided as early as this winter, whilst Anderlecht do not seem able to keep him indefinitely.

Said El Mala, a 19-year-old German left winger, noticed with Cologne this season with four goals and two assists in 12 encounters, also caught the eye of Kompany. He is also monitored by other European giants, including Manchester United and Manchester City. Cologne are demanding €50m (£42.7m).

Finally, whilst Harry Kane is linked with a summer exit – Barca? Tottenham? Manchester United? – Bayern Munich are interested in striker Fisnik Asllani, impressing with Hoffenheim – six goals in 12 appearances. Tied to his club until 2029, the Kosovan is valued at €18m (£15.4m).
