Austria vs Germany lineups and latest team news
Austria
After coming through their final Euro 2024 qualifying match against Estonia unscathed at the weekend, Rangnick could either use this game to experiment or to stick with what he believes is his strongest eleven. In terms of injuries and absentees, Austria are without Guido Bursgstaller and Samson Baidoo but their respective replacements did well on Saturday.
Austria's all-time top goalscorer, Marko Arnautovic, will be eager to start this game given the level of the opposition, however, he didn't feature on Saturday and could therefore have to settle for a place on the bench this time around too.
Predicted lineup
Schlager – Posch, Lienhart, Alaba, Wober – Sabitzer, Baumgartner, Seiwald – Laimer, Gregoritsch, Kainz
Germany
The headline team selection news from Germany's game against Turkey was Nagelsmann's decision to start Kai Havertz as a left-back. The Arsenal man is usually deployed as either a striker or an attacking midfielder so Nagelsmann's decision was a bold one and despite the loss, he seems keen to continue the experiment against Austria.
At the top end of the pitch, Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane will be the most important players for Nagelsmann with their pace perhaps the key to unlocking the Austrian defence. Meanwhile, lkay Gundogan and Joshua Kimmich are shoe-ins to start in midfield.
Predicted lineup
Trapp – Henrichs, Tah, Rudiger, Havertz – Gundogan, Kimmich – Gnabry, Wirtz, Sane – Fullkrug
Starting lineups
The official starting lineups will be released an hour before kick off.
