In their first outing since a heartbreaking Round of 16 exit at the World Cup, Canada returned to action with a 1-0 victory over Chile.
All-time top scorer Jonathan David provided the early spark, netting what would prove to be the game's lone goal.
However, despite Chile being reduced to nine men with more than 40 minutes left on the clock, Jesse Marsch's side were unable to double their lead.
Canada came through the Chile match with no new injury worries. However, injured defenders Alfie Jones (calf) and Derek Cornelius (hip) were both omitted from this three-game friendly window against Chile, Peru, and the USA.
On the other hand, Peru are coming off a 1-1 draw with Mexico. Despite holding the advantage at half-time, they let the victory slip away in the second half.
Compounding Peru's setback, Marco Huaman sustained an injury in the second half against Mexico and was forced off in the 79th minute. The defender is unavailable for selection against Canada.
Ahead of this skirmish, Mano Menezes' men are on a three-game winless run. However, it is worth mentioning that they have not played a competitive match in over a year.
Across three previous meetings between these sides, Canada lead the overall record with two victories to Peru's one. Interestingly, their only encounter in the past 16 years came at the 2024 Copa America group stage, when Canada edged past La Bicolor by a single goal.
