Authenticity (3/5): Arsenal's interest mentioned after Bournemouth talks
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for Julio Soler, who has made plenty of headlines with his exploits in the Argentinian Primera Division.
This comes from TBR Football, who have previously reported Bournemouth's interest in the young left-back. The Cherries appear to be ahead of other suitors at the moment, having already held talks with Lanus.
Value (3.5/5): Worth a shot
Soler's valuation saw a sharp increase after he featured for Argentina national team in the Olympics during the summer. It is understood Lanus are looking to strike a deal worth around £15million.
Considering Premier League riches, even this figure seems affordable and reasonable for the likes of Arsenal and Bournemouth.
Suitability (3.5/5): A natural fit
Mikel Arteta's 4-3-3 formation has seen many Arsenal stars, including midfielders and centre-backs, play at left-back. Soler, who appears technically proficient for his possession-based football, has the potential to be an ideal fit for the Spaniard's system, which could do with a natural left-back on a regular basis.
Upgrade? (3/5): Good challenge for Timber
Currently, Jurrien Timber is the only reliable defensive option for the left-flank position under Arteta. However, the Dutchman has struggled with fitness during his time at the Emirates. Soler could both challenge and learn from the ex-Ajax man if he decides to join Arsenal.
Logic (2/5): Adaptability remains a concern
Despite their talent, it is always tough for South American starlets to come to Europe and instantly establish themselves. The pressure of playing for Arsenal is only going to make things harder for Soler. As such, it might be better for him to go to Bournemouth – a club where he could take a lot of time to adapt without many eyes following his every movement.
Whisper+ verdict: 15/25
Bournemouth are understood to be in the driving seat at the moment, but if Arsenal are really keen, they have enough might to meet Lanus' valuation and hijack the deal. This race is certainly one to watch!
