Arsenal have shown interest in Jeremy Jacquet and made contact with Rennes regarding the young centre-back. The Ligue 1 side have now issued their response.
On Sunday, Fabrizio Romano reported that Arsenal had made an approach for Jeremy Jacquet, a rising talent at Stade Rennais. The 20-year-old central defender enjoyed a strong second half of last season, establishing himself as a regular starter with 11 Ligue 1 appearances and one assist.
Jacquet is currently on the Gunners’ shortlist. Later that evening, Romano added that Arsenal had targeted the Frenchman this summer in case either Oleksandr Zinchenko or Jakub Kiwior were to leave. That interest has now reached Rennes.
Rennes deem Jacquet untouchable

According to Romano, the French club view Jacquet as untouchable following the extension of his contract until June 2029, signed earlier this year. Despite rejecting this initial approach outright, Arsenal remain interested in the defender and are expected to return for him in the future, possibly in 2026.
Meanwhile, French outlet L’Équipe reported on Monday that Rennes have not received any formal offers, but they are determined to keep hold of their defender. However, “it is far from impossible” that one or more major European clubs could step up their pursuit in the second half of August. Rennes’ summer is not over just yet — and nor is the interest in Jacquet going away anytime soon.
