Whisper+ analysis
Authenticity (4.5/5): Named source can be trusted
Having both expressed an interest in left-backs Milos Kerkez and Daniel Svensson this week, Liverpool and Man Utd have now added Antonee Robinson to their list of targets in that position.
That is the news today from footballinsider247.com, who have spoken with former United scout Mick Brown, who has also worked with other London clubs and is said to still be very well connected.
Value (3.5/5): Proven Premier League man worth the fee
It will come as no surprise that, according to Brown, “Some of the top clubs in the Premier League have been watching him for a while,” given that Robinson has been a consistent performer for the Cottagers in recent years.
No formal offers have been made for the player under contract until 2028, and with Fulham desperate to keep him, the suitors will likely have to part with more than his €25 million Transfermarkt valuation.
Suitability (4.5/5): Proven Premier League performer
The Milton Keynes-born American international has long since improved his defensive abilities to become one of the best left-backs in the Premier League. His ability going forward hasn't taken a hit, though, as he already has three assists in 11 league appearances this season.
With Ruben Amorim favouring a back three, perhaps Robinson would fit better into the Liverpool system.
Upgrade? (4/5): Excellent long-term choice
With United in the hunt for an out-and-out left back, maybe Amorim is going to stick with a back four at Old Trafford? If so, Robinson would be a great replacement for the next few years ahead of the aging Luke Shaw.
Alternatively, rumours around Liverpool point to them being in the market for a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson, which Antonee definitely could be.
Logic (4/5): Time is now for a top club
Come the start of next season, Antonee Robinson will be turning 28-years-old. Depending on how long his pace lasts, he could only have a few years left at his peak, and therefore, if he is ever to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, it must be pretty soon.
Whisper+ verdict: 20.5/25
Sorry Fulham fans, but there are far too many positives for Liverpool, United and Robinson for neither of the northwest clubs to make a move in the summer, if not sooner.
Given the speculation over Amorim's style, Liverpool look the slightly better prospect right now, but that could change drastically come January.
