Whisper+ analysis

Authenticity (3.5/5): Adeyemi interest widely reported

Chelsea have been linked with Karim Adeyemi since last summer, and it is understood that they are still in talks to sign the Borussia Dortmund winger, who has also been on Liverpool‘s radar.

The story comes from BILD (via Standard), who suggest a summer move is more likely. The Blues have also shown interest in Bayern Munich's Mathys Tel.

Value (3/5): Chelsea could make a loan move

The Telegraph aren't as optimistic as BILD, as they claim Chelsea are not currently pushing to sign the 22-year-old. However, they add that a loan deal for Adeyemi is possible if the Premier League giants fail to pull off a deal for their other targets in January.

The German is valued at around £30million by Transfermarkt.

Suitability (3/5): Versatile attacking option for Maresca

The Germany international, who has five goals and five assists to his name in all competitions, has played as a left-winger, centre-forward, and right-winger under Dortmund head coach Nuri Sahin this season.

Accordingly, he could prove to be a versatile option for Enzo Maresca, who likes to have a fluid attack, with forwards interchanging positions.

Upgrade? (3/5): Squad player

Adeyemi has incredible pace and could be a sensational option if Chelsea look to catch teams in transition. However, apart from that, he isn't the most appealing option, especially considering the wealth of attacking options available at Maresca's disposal. As such, expect him to be a rotational player should he move to Stamford Bridge.

Logic (2.5/5): Best to stay in Germany

Adeyemi certainly has the potential to play for a bigger club than Dortmund but over the last 18 months, he has consistently struggled with fitness issues. Accordingly, it would be best for him to spend some more time in Germany and work on his fitness before making a step up.

Whisper+ verdict: 15/25

Multiple outlets have reported Chelsea's interest in Adeyemi so there's certainly something in this transfer rumour. Keep an eye on this one!
