Football Whispers' Predictions: Chelsea vs Watford
Chelsea might have secured 3rd spot in the Premier League but Tuchel's men will want to go out on a high at home to relegated Watford and we believe the Blues could be set for a big win on Sunday 22nd May. Watford simply haven't been good enough this season and make the short trip to Stamford Bridge without a number of players so won't be expecting anything other than a defeat.
Romelu Lukaku to Score
The big Belgian forward hasn't had the season he imagined for his return to Chelsea but is the club's second top scorer in the Premier League this season with 8-goals and has had a decent end to the season, fighting his way back into the starting eleven. On his day, Lukaku is unplayable and can rip apart any defense with his pace and power as Leed and Wolves both found out recently. With 3-goals in his last three league games, we're backing Lukaku to end the season on a high by scoring at least one goal against Watford.
Chelsea to Win-to-Nil
Chelsea have won each of their last five head-to-heads with Watford in the Premier League and have kept clean sheets in their last two encounters at Stamford Bridge. The hosts have also kept two clean sheets on their last three fixtures, while Watford have failed to score in three of their last seven outings, six of which have ended in defeat.
Chelsea vs Watford – Key Stats & Figures
Chelsea expected to secure an easy win on the final day
Chelsea played host to Leicester City in midweek where an early goal from Maddison handed the foxes the lead. Chelsea needed to respond and a sweet goal from Alonso brought the two sides back onto level terms 10-minutes before the interval. The second forty-five failed to produce any further goals and both teams seemed happy to share the points at the final whistle.
Chelsea Predicted Lineup – Mendy, Silva, Alonso, Rüdiger, Chalobah, James, Jorginho, Kanté, Ziyech, Pulisic & Lukaku
Watford's last game was also against Leicester where despite having the home advantage and going in front through Pedro, the Hornets ended up losing heavily. Leicester went in at the break 2-1 up and scored another three goals without reply in the second half to make the final scoreline 5-1.
Watford Predicted Lineup – Foster, Cathcart, Kabasele, Masina, Sissoko, Gosling, Sema, Kayembe, Kalu, Ngakia & Pedro
