In this article, we will cover the potential Viktor Gyokeres Man Utd transfer fee, and if he would reunite with current Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim in January, assuming Amorim is installed as United boss as expected.
According to Sky Sports Germany journalist and transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, Gyokeres does have a release clause worth €100m (£83m), but can now leave for between €60-70m (£50-58m) in the summer. A move in the January transfer window is currently not planned, although a number of ‘big six' clubs in the Premier League are thought to be interested in his signature.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City are named, although Manchester United are not thought to be currently in the race. It is a matter of waiting to see what will happen should Amorim become the new manager, as the Portuguese has been strongly linked with the job after the departure of Dutchman Erik ten Hag.

Potential Viktor Gyokeres Man Utd transfer fee: Is he worth it?
The short answer is yes. Gyokeres has turned into a goalscoring machine at Sporting, with no fewer than 57 goals scored in just 64 appearances in total over all competitions across the last two seasons.
In contrast, goalscoring is a problem that Man Utd have struggled with of late, having only netted a mere eight times in their opening nine games in the Premier League so far this season, the third-worst record in the division as they languish in 14th place in the table. Strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have only managed to score three goals between them in the 2024/25 campaign, while Gyokeres currently boasts 14 himself already in all competitions.
Amorim has clearly managed to get the best out of Gyokeres in his preferred 3-4-3 system, where Sporting's wing-backs bomb forward and feed crosses to him as a focal point of the attack, as well as the pacy wingers. Should they both make the move to Old Trafford, expect Man Utd to play in a similar way, with the likes of Diogo Dalot and a fit Luke Shaw the top candidates to take on the wing-back roles.
With Gyokeres being the sole striker, it means that Hojlund and Zirkzee would likely be summoned to the substitutes bench for a lot of matches. This would certainly not be ideal for their confidence and development, but Gyokeres is simply on another level at this moment in time, and could get Man Utd firing on all fronts again.
