Monaco – Strasbourg Preview: Latest Form, News, and Potential Lineups

Read all of the latest injury updates and team news for this duel, including our predicted Monaco vs Strasbourg lineups.

Monaco

Monaco opened the new season with a nice 4-2 away win vs Clermont. Ben Yedder led by example and his brace was crucial for the win. The one player that didn’t enjoy the match was debuting goalie Philipp Kuhn. He made a bad mistake for one of the goals that was conceded and was again at fault for the other.

Monaco won both games vs Strasbourg last season, with their home match producing a 4-3 spectacle.

Striker Embolo is a long-term absentee but in Ben Yedder an experienced leader of the attack is at hand. Salisu and Ben Seghir might not be able to start as they continue to lack fitness after injuries. Also, Singo and Zakaria were signed only on Thursday so they might not be ready for their debuts straight away.

Predicted Lineup:

Kohn (GK), Matsima, Maripan, Magassa, Campos, Fofana, Camara, Henrique, Minamino, Ben Yedder & Golovin

Strasbourg

Strasbourg’s first official game under new manager Patrick Vieira saw them edge Lyon 2-1 at home. Bellegarde was the main reason for the win as he scored the first via a direct free-kick and then set up the second goal.

Strasbourg have serious injury issues though. Right now 5 players that would have been starting a lot are missing. The back line is crippled particularly badly with all of Sobol, Bastian and Basiya on the injury list.

Predicted Lineup:

Sels (GK), Guilbert, Doukoure, Nyamsi, Sylla, Delaine, Prcic, Deminguet, Bellegarde, Emegha & Mothiba

Player to Watch: Wassim Ben Yedder

Monaco’s captain Ben Yedder scored 2 goals in round 1. He also scored 2 the last time Monaco hosted Strasbourg. Now with Embolo sidelined Ben Yedder is guaranteed a starting spot in pretty much every game.

With his confidence very high right now we back Ben Yedder to punish Strasbourg again.
