Troyes opened the season with back-to-back unbeaten games, before things took a turn for worse. Since their impressive start, Troyes have lost four on the trot.

Marseille were the latest team to inflict defeat on the Ligue 1 newcomers, with the 2-0 defeat marking Troyes’ third such consecutive result.

Stephane Dumont’s side are now enduring their worst-ever start to a top-flight campaign. To add to their woes is their 20-match winless Ligue 1 streak on home turf – the longest such run in the French top division.

Yacouba Kone, Yvann Titi, Ismael Boura and Anis Ouzenadji are the four players missing for Troyes.

Lens, on the other hand, have three sidelined: Jonathan Gradit, Maik Nawrocki and Abdallah Sima.

The Blood and Gold have made an unconvincing start to the new season despite winning the French Super Cup against PSG.

Out of their six Ligue 1 games, Lens have won only two, losing one and drawing the other three. One of those victories came last matchday, as they edged Lyon 2-1 on home turf.

Away from home is where their worries mount, with no wins in their three league trips this term (D1, L2), while they also went down 2-0 to Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League in midweek.

Whispers predicts: Troyes 0-3 Lens

Lens’ poor away form has shaken the confidence of bookmakers. However, according to Bet365, they still carry valuable odds to emerge winners at 5/6 (1.83). The visitors might have made a shaky start to the new season, but their recent win over Lyon should push them towards a victory.

Florian Thauvin to score or assist anytime at 11/10 (2.10) offers significant value as well, with the Frenchman scoring three and assisting four in six Ligue 1 games so far.

BTTS – No & Over 2.5 total goals at 19/20 (1.95) is also worth considering. Troyes have failed to score in their last three games, and have failed to score in two of their last three home outings. Additionally, 13 of Lens’ last 15 away league games produced over 2.5 goals.

Lens’ games this campaign usually turned out heated and physical, while Troyes are not far behind in terms of free kicks given away. The two clubs have committed 70 and 74 fouls respectively in six league games this season. Over 4.5 total cards at 11/8 (2.37) offers significant returns.
