After three unbeaten games in their opening four, Strasbourg have lost four straight and slumped inside the relegation zone.

Their seven points is one of their lowest after eight rounds, with Hugo Oliveira under substantial pressure to squeeze a win and end their poor form.

At home, Strasbourg beat Lens on the opening day, before a 1-1 draw with Monaco and a 3-1 loss to PSG recently.

Joaquin Panichelli is Strasbourg’s biggest name absent from the roster, while Fabio Balde and Amo-Ameyaw Samuel also questionable to appear.

As for Auxerre, Sekou Fofana, Marvin Senaya, Telli Siwe, Remy Labeau Lascary and Assane Diousse are all sidelined for this encounter.

The visitors are enjoying one of their best recent spells in the top flight after losing three successive opening games. However, only one win from their latest three games (D1, L1) is concerning.

Newly-promoted Le Mans were the latest team to claim points from Auxerre’s coffers, with the 1-1 draw restricting them to 12th position after eight rounds.

Auxerre now have the chance to record successive away victories for the first time since October 2010, having beaten Le Havre 3-1 in the port city last time out.

Whispers predicts: Strasbourg 1-2 Auxerre

Auxerre have scored in 13 successive Ligue 1 matches – their best such run since 2006/07 (14). At the same time, Strasbourg have netted in all but two of their Ligue 1 games so far. BTTS – Yes at 3/4 (1.75) is worth the odds.

Over 2.5 total goals at 5/4 (2.25) offers significant returns. Six of Auxerre’s eight and seven of Strasbourg’s eight games this term, have gone over 2.5 total goals.

Cameron Archer has been Auxerre’s best attacker this season, with five goals in eight games. Backing him to score anytime at 6/5 (2.20) offers immense value.
