Authenticity (3/5): Sources close to Parisians

Luis Enrique is not happy with his attacking options at PSG and wants to bring Man Utd forward Marcus Rashford to the Parc des Princes in January to combat that.

This news comes from teamtalk.com, a regular publisher of transfer rumours, who state their source is close to PSG.

Value (2/5): Rashford not living up to valuation

No potential transfer fee has been mentioned yet, but with the England international under contract until summer 2028, PSG will have to offer a substantial sum.

On Transfermarkt, he is valued at €60 million, a lot less than the €80 million valuation he received 18 months ago. But with two goals in 12 Premier League appearances so far this season, even €60 million seems steep.

Suitability (4/5): He suits a 4-3-3

A left-winger who has often found himself at centre-forward, Rashford should be able to play to his potential in the 4-3-3 system that former Barcelona manager Enrique opts for.

Upgrade? (3.5/5): PSG want him up front?

Enrique is said to want Rashford as a replacement for his forward options, but especially for Goncalo Ramos, who he doesn't see as part of his long-term plans.

That suggests he wants Rashford to play in Ramos' centre-forward position, rather than his best role, where he would struggle to take the left-wing spot from Bradley Barcola or Desire Doue. Given his memorable hat-trick against PSG a few seasons ago, it's no wonder the Parisians see him as a goalscorer first.

Logic (3/5): Amorim seems to want him

Only once since 2019/20 has Rashford scored more than 11 goals in a Premier League season, and he has had the criticism to match his inconsistent form.

A move away while still only 27 to a team all but guaranteed to win trophies seems like a great idea. But a start in Ruben Amorim's first game in charge at the weekend, and a goal after two minutes, might indicate that not only is Rashford in Amorim's plans, but he can get him firing again.

Whisper+ verdict: 15.5/25

This move would probably make more sense if Erik ten Hag was still in charge of Man Utd, but now things at Old Trafford are looking brighter for Rashford.

But we should not read too much into one game. Things might look different in January, but if PSG want to play Rashford out of his preferred position, Paris might not be his ideal destination.
