Racing Santander kicked off their Copa del Rey campaign with a 2-0 win at amateur side CF Ribadesella on Thursday.
After going on a four-game winless streak (D1, L3), the Cantabrian side have turned things around, winning back-to-back matches, including their 2-1 victory over Espanyol last weekend.
Jose Alberto Lopez's troops have been one of the league's best home teams while conversely being the worst travellers. They are 14th with a 3-2-5 win-draw-loss record, and while they have lost all five away matches, the hosts are undefeated at home (W3, D2).
There are no new injury concerns for Racing Club, although Jorge Salinas is sidelined for this clash due to accumulated yellows. Yassir Zabiri has scored eight league goals and is expected to lead the charge as the hosts look to keep their unbeaten home run intact.
On the other hand, Real Madrid arrive on the back of a statement Clasico win, as their 2-1 victory over Barcelona prevented their arch-rivals from setting an unprecedented record of 10 consecutive wins to start a season.
With that in mind, Los Blancos protected their 57-year-old record, ensuring the Catalans merely matched their landmark nine-game winning start from 1968/69 rather than breaking it.
Jose Mourinho's troops have now won five matches in a row across all competitions. They are third in La Liga, a point behind local rivals Atletico Madrid and three points behind leaders Barcelona.
Raul Asencio (leg) and Rodrygo Goes (ACL) are still in the recovery room, while Vinicius Jr serves the third of his four-game suspension. Kylian Mbappe has scored 11 league goals and will continue to lead the line, while Andriy Lunin is expected to start between the sticks following his heroics in last weekend's El Clasico.
This will be the first encounter between these teams since February 2012. Real Madrid are unbeaten in their last 10 clashes with Racing Santander (W9, D1) and have not lost to their hosts since April 2007.

Whispers Predicts: Racing Santander 1-4 Real Madrid
Priced at 1/4 (1.25), Real Madrid are considered favourites by the bookmakers ahead of this skirmish.
Los Blancos are currently on a five-game winning streak, and considering their dominance over Racing Club in the past, anything other than a comfortable victory for the visitors would be surprising.
Both teams were on the scoresheet in eight of Real Madrid's last nine matches, and this can be backed at 11/20 (1.55).
We also fancy over 4.5 total goals at 6/5 (2.20), as was the case in three of the visiting team's last four outings.
