We have taken a look at Premier League hat-tricks by nationality, including the top five nations that lead the way, and whether they could overtake each other based on current players in the Premier League (PL), and even potential future ones!
Premier League hat-tricks by nationality: Who leads the way?

1. England – 166
Unsurprisingly, England are currently a long way in front in terms of PL hat-tricks by nationality. They boast five of the top seven players that lead the all-time ranks in Alan Shearer, Robbie Fowler, Harry Kane, Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney.

2. Argentina/Netherlands – 18
Argentina and the Netherlands currently share second place in terms of PL hat-tricks by nationality. Sergio Aguero actually leads the all-time player charts with 12, while Ruud van Nistelrooy and Robin van Persie are the Dutch's most prolific hitmen with five each.

3. France – 17
France are third in the list with 17 PL hat-tricks, with Thierry Henry joint-fourth on the all-time player list with eight. Nicolas Anelka also contributed three hat-tricks during his time in the league.

4. Norway – 15
Norway make up the top five in the rankings with 15 PL hat-tricks to their name. Despite only joining the league last season, Erling Haaland currently leads the way for his country with five hat-tricks already! Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also contributed significantly with three hat-tricks in his playing days.
Premier League hat-tricks by nationality: Who could overtake who?

France to catch Argentina/Netherlands
France are only one behind Argentina and the Netherlands in terms of PL hat-tricks. Their last hat-trick is also the most recent – on June 24th 2020 compared to 12th January 2020 and 18th October 2015 for Argentina and the Netherlands respectively.
In terms of French players in the league that could make this happen, the two most likely both play for Crystal Palace in Odsonne Edouard and Michael Olise. The latter came off injured in Palace's 4-1 defeat at Brighton last time out, but they each have six goals this season, and are capable of netting a treble on their day. Chelsea's Christopher Nkunku is also one to watch, having scored twice after recovering from a long-term injury.

Norway to catch France
Norway are two hat-tricks behind France in the table, but Haaland returning from injury could change that quickly. His last hat-trick was on 2nd September 2023, and last season's record-breaking top scorer will be the main threat to lift his country up in the rankings.
Arsenal's Martin Odegaard also poses an outside threat too, although he only has four goals to his name so far this campaign.

Nigeria to catch Norway
Nigeria are currently eighth in the table with eight PL hat-tricks to their name, with their last one coming on 14th March 2021. Above them are Belgium in seventh with nine hat-tricks, and Spain in sixth with 12.
In terms of players in the PL, Nottingham Forest's Taiwo Awoniyi seems the most likely to add to their tally, as he boasts five goals this season despite spending months out with injury. Outside of the PL, a big-money move for Napoli's Victor Osimhen this summer could see him quickly rack up the goals, and in turn add a few hat-tricks to his name. Chelsea currently lead the way in terms of his next club odds, with Manchester United also in the mix.
