The Manchester derby is the focus of the Premier League this weekend, but with all 20 teams returning to action after the FA Cup fifth round and EFL Cup final in the past week, let's take a look a more Premier League first goalscorer predictions.
Premier League first goalscorer predictions
Tottenham vs Crystal Palace first goalscorer – Son Heung-min – 11/10 (2.1)
Despite the ‘new manager bounce' for Crystal Palace where Oliver Glasner eased to all there points against Burnley on his Premier League debut, the Eagles are likely to fall right back into the loss column here.
Tottenham Hotspur have only lost three times at home in the Premier League this season and have already defeated Palace away at Selhurst Park back in October. And, Although Son Heung-min did not get the game's first goal that day, he did get the first finish from a Spurs player, as an own goal from Joel Ward opened the scoring in the 2-1 win.
Goals have dried up for Son in the past couple of months after a magical first 15 games in the Premier League. Nevertheless, he still has 12 on the board and this match in north London is likely the perfect start to getting back to goalscoring ways for the Spurs captain.
Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool first goalscorer – Mohamed Salah – 5/6 (1.83)
Although Liverpool survived an EFL Cup final scare and secured yet another trophy under Jurgen Klopp without Mohamed Salah last weekend, he continues to be the main man for the Reds this season. So far, the Egyptian has 15 league goals and nine assists, putting him ahead of Erling Haaland in terms of goal involvements by two but adrift of the Manchester City striker by two in the top scorer chart.
Salah also has three in the Europa League and bagged one in two during the EFL Cup triumph, and with a potential 22 games left to play across the domestic and continental games, the Liverpool legend is well on his way to breaking the 30-goal mark for the sixth time in eight seasons with the Reds and for the fourth year in a row.
He is back fit now too after being rested one more time during the week against Southampton just to be sure of things and will no doubt start against Nottingham Forest.
Manchester City vs Manchester United – Erling Haaland – 8/15 (1.53)
Picking Haaland to score is almost a guarantee, and he tends to get the games first goal too. In fact, after coming back from injury, Haaland has eight scored times in the six games since, including a stunning five-goal haul against Luton Town on Tuesday night in the FA Cup.
This does mean he has only scored in three of the past six games, but each of the three matches he has netted in has seem him get the game's first finish. The five goals against Luton was also the second time he has achieved that many in a game for the second time in just one-and-a-half seasons with City, as he did so against RB Leipzig in last season's Champions League triumph.
Better yet, Haaland has already scored five goals in just three Premier League appearances against United, including a hat-trick in this fixture last season and two earlier in the campaign back at Old Trafford. United are also in poor form once more after a loss at Old Trafford to Fulham last weekend and a very narrow win over Forest in the FA Cup on Wednesday.
