Whisper+ analysis
Authenticity (3.5/5): Fichajes reports could be off-target
Liverpool have been interested in Salah's Egypt teammate and Eintracht Frankfurt star Marmoush since the summer but haven't attempted to open contact with the winger. However, Fichajes reports that the Reds have now prepared a reported bid of €70 million (£58m) as they want to sign him in January amid reports of Salah opting not to renew his Anfield contract, which ends next summer.
As usual, Fichajes' reports need to be understood with some leeway for sensationalisation.
Value (3.5/5): Inflated market may make Liverpool overpay
Marmoush has been in top form this season for Frankfurt. The Egyptian forward has scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists in 16 matches in all competitions. However, the reported price of €70 million may be a tad bit too much for the sort of consistency that the forward has shown, with a number of other options available for lower price points.
Suitability (4/5): Marmoush could be a wonder under Slot
Marmoush is a very high-intensity pressing forward who has been known to be versatile in attack, as he can shift off to the wings depending on the situation of the game. The Egyptian would fit right in at Arne Slot's Liverpool due to his similarity in possession to that of Diogo Jota. The 25-year-old is also quite pacey and could be a shoo-in for the underperforming Darwin Nunez.
Upgrade? (4/5): Better finisher than Nunez, similar profile
Nunez has been struggling for form so far this season as the Uruguayan has failed to convert a number of chances despite getting into promising positions often. Marmoush carries a similar profile as him when played through the middle; however, he possesses a better understanding of where the goal.
Logic (4.5/5): A dream move to a top club
The move would be a dream for Marmoush, who has shown a lot of promise since his move to Frankfurt. A move to a top club, no offence to Frankfurt, will help him further his career and potentially become a main man for Slot's side considering Salah may soon depart the club next summer.
Whisper+ final verdict – 19.5 /25
Marmoush should be a straight fit into Slot's Liverpool side and the Egyptian would deserve the move to a big club, especially after the kind of form he has shown for Frankfurt this season. This only probable hurdle could be the German side's high asking price for the Egyptian.
