Authenticity (3/5): Caught Offside sources come up with new destination
Darwin Nunez has so far attracted serious interest from Saudi Arabia but now it is being claimed that Atletico Madrid are willing to gamble on him, as Diego Simeone looks to reshape his attack.
That is according to Caught Offside sources who add that Liverpool are prepared to sell Nunez.
Value (3/5): Atletico not shy of spending big
In a separate report, we covered that Liverpool value the Uruguay international at £60million. The La Liga outfit, who signed Julian Alvarez in a deal north of £80million last summer, have regularly spent big on forwards and it is not far-fetched to assume they might do the same for another Simeone target.
Suitability (3/5): Always in the mix
Nunez has been ridiculed for his finishing ability but one can't deny the Liverpool man has exceptional positional awareness and movement as he always finds himself on the end of great chances. If Simeone could work on his composure, he will have a brilliant number nine at his disposal.
Upgrade? (3.5/5): Griezmann replacement
While Alvarez is expected to keep his spot as the side's first-choice number nine, Nunez is being eyed to potentially replace the ageing Antoine Griezmann. His ability to play out wide and as a second striker should make him a good replacement for the Frenchman.
Logic (4/5): Good move for all parties
Nunez has struggled to impress Arne Slot and might find that La Liga is a better fit for him, especially under the tutelage of the manager who greatly admires his skill set.
Whisper+ verdict: 16.5/25
On paper, this move makes sense for everyone but with Saudi Arabian clubs also interested, it's best to wait for more updates.
