Serbia vs Spain: Dani Olmo to score anytime
It barely feels like Euro 2024 ended and already attention has shifted to the Nations League. We kick start our Nations League betting tips with one of the stars of the Euro’s too as we tip Spain’s Dani Olmo to score anytime as his side travel to face Serbia. Olmo, who wasn’t initially a starter in Germany, netted three goals – enough to tie him for the Golden Boot – as Spain lifted the trophy making it six goals in nine international games this year. Throw into the mix that he’s scored in each of his last two club games for Barcelona and there’s every chance he is on the scoresheet again here. Kick-Off: 19:45 GMT, 05/09/2024Portugal vs Croatia: Draw
On paper this game between Portugal and Croatia is a big one between two highly competitive nations. We’re not sure it will be a humdinger of a game though and are backing a draw. Neither nation excelled at the Euros, although Portugal did hang around longer than Croatia, with both sides eventually exiting off the back of consecutive draws. With two of the last five head to head meetings ended in draws too, sitting on the fence feels like the smart move. Kick-Off: 19:45 GMT, 05/09/2024Rep of Ireland vs England: England to win -2
Watching England without Gareth Southgate on the sideline will be a strange experience given he was there for eight years but Lee Carsley comes in as interim and will want to throw the tag of “defensive and dull” out of the window. With little on the line, we’re expecting a much more front-footed mentality from England and when you consider the strength of the squads the Three Lions should run out comfortable winners hence the -2 handicap. The last time the nations faced off England won 3-0. Kick-Off: 17:00 GMT, 18/06/2023The Nations League: League A Group Stage

Nations League: Outright Predictions
Here is a rundown of the current favourites to lift the Nations League.France @ 3/1
France might have disappointed in Germany over the summer but any nation boasting Kylian Mbappe in their attack is capable of winning games and Real Madrid’s new signing hasn’t got a bad supporting cast either. With France’s experience of winning major trophies, if they choose to take this competition seriously then they’ll have an excellent chance of winning it. That being said, 3/1 doesn’t feel like great value considering some of the other options.Spain @ 6/1
Spain coming in at 6/1 is a handsome price given they’ve just won the European Championships whilst playing by far the best football at the tournament. With Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal in the wide roles and Rodri pulling the strings at the base of their midfield, they’ll be a threat to make it back to back Nations League wins.Germany @ 6/1
We’ve just referenced Spain as the best side at Euro 2024 but, in terms of performances, you’d probably put Germany in at second best. They’ve transformed themselves over the last few months and now look a much more well-oiled machine; it’s kind of what you expect from German sides. With plenty of talent in their squad and a clear style of play developing, they’ll see this competition as a building block towards success.Portugal @ 8/1
You have to say Portugal look nailed on to win their Nations League group with Croatia, who are a dwindling force, the only real threat to them. Portugal have the quality in their squad to beat anyone in the world in a one-off match as well. It will be interesting to see where Cristiano Ronaldo and Pepe fit into things post Euro 2024 though.Nations League: Players to Watch Out For
Here is our list of players to watch out for in the upcoming Nations League. Some are already household names around the world whilst others might be names you’re yet to hear much about.- Lamine Yamal – Barcelona’s young winger has just scooped the Young Player award at Euro 2024 and attracted rave reviews for his bravery on the ball and end product.
- Cristiano Ronaldo – there is nothing to say about Ronaldo that hasn’t already been said. Some question his place in this Portugal side but he is insisting that he’s going nowhere, which means he’ll probably score goals for them – again.
- Marc Guehi – Crystal Palace centre back Guehi was arguably England’s most consistent performer at Euro 2024.
- Arda Guler – we’re yet to see his impact for Real Madrid but Guler’s quality on the ball is a key part of Turkey’s threats.
- Erling Haaland – being Norwegian is often seen as a real negative for Haaland’s Ballon d’Or ambitions. Regardless of who is around him though, Haaland is a mammoth goal threat – especially given he arrives here off back to back hat-tricks for Man City.
- Rodri – Haaland’s Man City teammate Rodri is the leading contender for the Ballon d’Or this year and is widely regarded as the best midfielder of his generation.
- Jamal Musiala – former England youth international Musiala is already a key player for club and country, Germany, and was named in the team of the tournament at Euro 2024.
- Kylian Mbappe – Mbappe has just netted his first league goals for Real Madrid after his much anticipated move to Spain. It means the speedster arrives into the international break very much high on confidence.
- Fotis Ioannidis – this 24-year-old striker enjoyed a prolific season in his native Greece last year and has widely been tipped for a move to one of Europe’s big five leagues this summer with concrete interest from English and Italian sides.
