Manchester United vs Ipswich: Surprising Marcus Rashford stat makes 10/3 market difficult to ignore

Manchester United will take on Ipswich on Sunday, 30 August, with the Red Devils looking to bounce back from their shock opening weekend defeat to Hull City.

While United are expected to win this match relatively comfortably (priced at 2/5 to win), the same was expected of them last week prior to their pitiful display at the MKM Stadium.

As a result, I'm not touching the match result market, but that doesn't mean to say there isn't good value out there. Today's focus is on a Marcus Rashford bet, with odds of 10/3.

Marcus Rashford priced at 10/3 to get an assist against Ipswich

Marcus Rashford was brought on at half-time against Hull City last weekend, and although he failed to inspire a comeback, he did look like United's most threatening player throughout the second half.

Despite playing just 45 minutes, Rashford created more chances (four) than any other Manchester United player on Saturday, including Bruno Fernandes, who famously broke the Premier League's assist record last season.

In fact, only Morgan Rogers created more chances than Rashford across the entire weekend, illustrating how Rashford can still be a threat for United on the left-hand side.

Rashford is more known for goals than assists, but if Michael Carrick is to persist with touchline wingers, this may be Rashford's quickest route to goal contributions.

History suggests we'll get a better Man Utd team performance

There are a number of historical stats which suggest Man Utd are going to come out on top this weekend, with the most compelling being the fact that the Red Devils have won six and drawn two of their last eight home matches against Ipswich.

Additionally, Ipswich have only ever won their first two matches of a top-flight season on three occasions, with the most recent coming at the beginning of the 1993/94 season.

If United do as expected and win on Sunday, then there is every chance Rashford will play a part.
