Carlos Baleba: Brighton man linked with Manchester United

PSG appear keen to increase competition in midfield next season and have set their sights on Carlos Baleba. But the Brighton midfielder is being tracked by almost the entire Premier League, and his price tag is steep.

Top of Ligue 1, PSG are in good shape following their impressive victory against Marseille (5-0) on Sunday evening. But sporting director Luis Campos continues his behind-the-scenes work for next season, with new profiles being observed. Paris are notably targeting Amiens gem Aly Traore, as well as Eduardo Conceicao, Palmeiras' new £84.7m (€100m) wonderkid.

And in addition to Hugo Fernandez, an 18-year-old centre-back from Valencia, Paris Saint-Germain are monitoring a key Premier League midfielder.

PSG competing with Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munich

Indeed, as reported by Team Talk, PSG are intensifying their interest in Carlos Baleba, as are Chelsea, who are also lurking. The 22-year-old Cameroonian has already been linked with Manchester United, but alos Liverpool and Bayern Munich in recent months, and his future appears set to be away from Brighton from summer 2026.

According to the British outlet, the player “aspires to join a top-level club,” which further opens the door to a departure at the end of the current season. Admittedly, Carlos Baleba's contract does not expire until June 2028, but the enormous competition from clubs with the means to match their ambitions should allow the former Lille player (2022-2023) to join “a top-level club.” It should also allow Brighton to pocket a tidy sum, making a huge profit.

Baleba departure for over £84m?

By signing Carlos Baleba from Lille for £22.9m (€27m), there may have been doubt about the current 14th-placed Premier League side's ability to make a profit on the Cameroonian. But, according to Team Talk, Brighton intend to do just that, with the English club expected to demand between £77.1m and £96.6m (€91m-€114m) for their number 17.

According to the outlet, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are “currently best placed” to welcome the 22-year-old in summer 2026. His arrival in the French capital would bring competition for Fabian Ruiz, Warren Zaire-Emery and Kang-in Lee, while Joao Neves and especially Vitinha appear untouchable.
