Man City vs Coventry: Tempting Erling Haaland odds for Premier League clash

Manchester City have once again splashed the cash in the summer transfer window, this time signing no less than six players who can slot straight into Enzo Maresca's starting XI, while two others were signed for the future.

The biggest piece of news for them was the signing of Enzo Fernandez on deadline day, who joined City from Chelsea to bolster their midfield, after Rodri departed for Barcelona.

However, after two games played in the Premier League, it does not seem as if the Cityzens missed Rodri at all, as they romped to a 4-1 hammering of Crystal Palace on matchday two, after beating Bournemouth in a come-from-behind triumph on the opening day.

While they appeared to look rusty in the Premier League opener last weekend showed that City are starting to warm up to the task of regaining the league title, with their main man Erling Haaland netting a brace, alongside playmaker Rayan Cherki.

Another club under the belt

Since Haaland joined Manchester City, he has absolutely blitzed the Premier League, scoring against 23 of the 24 clubs that he has faced so far, and if he gets onto the scoresheet against Coventry, he will mark his 24th.

The Norwegian has only ever failed to score against Sunderland, although the big forward is likely to put an end to that statistic at some point during the campaign.

City's number nine is one of the heavy favourites to score at any time on Saturday at 1.43 odds, but backing him to be the first one to break the deadlock is worth exploring at 3.05.

Haaland enjoys scoring against newly-promoted teams, as he has now notched up 19 goals in 20 appearances against such opposition, which should strike fear into the visitors' defence.

In the two matches he has played in the league this season, Haaland took 10 shots, averaging five per game, but he has also registered five shots on target and three headers, which is why it is worth looking into backing him to take a minimum of five shots against Coventry at 8.00 odds.

Additionally, Haaland uses his height quite well, and with him scoring a header last week, he is great value at 4.30 odds to score another header this weekend.

Another hat trick on the cards

Last season's Premier League Golden Boot winner has the record for hat-tricks in his sights, as he is now tied on eight with Arsenal's legend Thierry Henry.

Former City forward Kun Aguero owns the record for the most hat tricks in the division by a foreigner and the most hat tricks overall with a dozen, which he collected over the course of 275 appearances.

Haaland is four hat-tricks short of the record but has made only 134 appearances in the Premier League, and it took him just four matches to bag his first back in 2022-23 against Crystal Palace.

The Norwegian smashed four hat-tricks in his debut season, and kicked off the 2024-25 season with three goals against newly promoted Ipswich Town, one of the reasons he is worth getting behind for another hat-trick against a promoted team at 6.50 odds.
