Manchester City are still searching for a right-back and are reported to be in pole position to sign Michael Kayode, who plays for Brentford.

Manchester City have still not signed a replacement for Kyle Walker at right-back, despite the defender leaving the Sky Blues a year ago. As a result, the English giants are notably relying on midfielder Matheus Nunes in that position. While the Portuguese is filling in well, it is not his natural role.

The second-placed Premier League side are therefore still searching for a right-back and have explored multiple options in recent months. Tino Livramento, Pedro Porro, Nahuel Molina and Ivan Fresneda have all been linked with Pep Guardiola's side. A new name has just been revealed by the British press.

Bayern Munich and Juventus also interested in Kayode

According to Caught Offside, Manchester City are very interested in Michael Kayode's profile. The 21-year-old Italian has been thriving at Brentford since arriving from Fiorentina this summer for €17.5m (£15.4m). He has played 25 matches since the start of the season and started every Premier League game.

Already highly impressive and boasting strong potential, the Borgomanero native is attracting interest from numerous European giants. Indeed, in addition to the Sky Blues, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Newcastle, Tottenham and Inter Milan are also in the race. Manchester City are nevertheless the most serious contender, according to the same source.

Michael Kayode, a move to Manchester City next summer?

In this matter, Brentford are in a position of strength as Kayode is under contract until June 2030. The Bees could therefore reject approaches during the coming windows or demand a hefty fee for their right-back. Caught Offside notably reports that the English club could demand up to €40m (£35.1m) for the Italian this winter.

In any case, all signs point to a Kayode departure next summer, provided he maintains the same level of performance in the second half of the season. Manchester City, who also want to get their hands on Troyes wonderkid Christ Batola, are positioning themselves as favourites in this race, but competition could intensify by then and the price could also rise.
