Whisper+ analysis
Authenticity (2.5/5): Sources not properly in the picture
Manchester United are among the clubs monitoring Como winger Assane Diao in their bid to strengthen Ruben Amorim's attack. They face competition from Newcastle United and Liverpool.
The story comes from Caught Offside, who appear to be keeping source information close to their chest.
Value (3/5): Price tag remains unclear
The 19-year-old only moved to Serie A in January and has a contract until 2029 with Como. As such, the Italian outfit have not slapped any price tag on him and it might prove to be very tricky for his suitors to sit on the negotiating table this summer.
According to Transfermarkt, the Senegal winger, who has five goals in 12 Serie A appearances, is valued at around £21million.
Suitability (3.5/5): Explosive attacker
Diao is an explosive winger, who uses his pace and dribbling to beat his man. He often tends to cut inside and take aim at the goal. However, he is still a raw talent and Amorim would have to work on his decision-making and composure to really unlock his full potential.
Upgrade? (4/5): Versatile addition
The Como star primarily plays as a right winger but he is also capable of playing on the opposite flank as well as leading the line as a centre-forward. As such, his versatility and potential could really elevate Amorim's attacking options, especially considering how his several forwards have failed to perform at Old Trafford.
Logic (4/5): Tempting move
Despite his very limited stay at Como, it is going to be very hard for the club to hold on to their latest star this summer amid growing interest from Premier League clubs. An opportunity to make the jump to the Theatre of Dreams could convince Diao to push for a swift exit.
Whisper+ verdict: 17/25
United may have to work hard to find an agreement with Como but this transfer is certainly not out of their reach.
