That is according to journalist Nicolo Schira, who claims that a Man United scout was in attendance to watch Diao in action in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Empoli. Diao played the full duration of the contest and was the only player to earn praise from his manager, Cesc Fabregas.
Speaking after the game, Fabregas told reporters: “The only player from today I liked was Assane Diao, despite the fact he only returned from international duty on Thursday. He was the only one who tried to do something. I believe we can do much better.”
