Two unbeaten sides meet at Groupama Stadium on Saturday evening as Lyon welcome Rennes for the fifth round of the 2026-27 Ligue 1 campaign.
The hosts arrive after beginning their Europa League league-phase campaign with a 2-1 victory away to Anderlecht, while Les Rennais were held to a goalless draw by Sturm Graz in Austria on Wednesday.
Lyon will therefore look to use home advantage to maintain their unbeaten domestic start, although Rennes have already shown their ability to compete near the top of the table after taking points from Paris Saint-Germain and beating Marseille.

Lyon finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season to secure a place in Champions League qualifying, marking a clear improvement on their sixth-place finish in the previous campaign.
That return to the Champions League did not result in a place in the league phase, however, as Fenerbahce eliminated Paulo Fonseca's side in the qualifying playoff and sent them into the Europa League for another continental campaign.
Fonseca's team have made a steady start domestically, collecting eight points from four matches through victories over Toulouse and Auxerre alongside draws against Le Havre and Paris FC.
The goalless draw with Paris FC last weekend was followed by a more productive European outing in Brussels, where a much-changed Lyon side established a 2-0 advantage inside the opening 22 minutes before Anderlecht pulled one back.
Lyon have also developed a stronger platform at Groupama Stadium after collecting 37 points from a possible 51 at home in the league last season, while their opening two home fixtures this term have yielded four points.
Rennes secured sixth place last season after spending the previous two campaigns in the lower half of the Ligue 1 table, earning a return to European football under a side that changed manager midway through the previous campaign.
Franck Haise has overseen a strong opening to the new season, with Les Rennais taking 10 points from their first four matches after drawing 2-2 with reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain before recording three successive victories.
Those wins came against Le Mans, Angers and Marseille, with Adrien Thomasson scoring the only goal in the latter, where the Britanny outfit also recorded their first clean sheet of the league campaign.
Rennes have also carried an effective away record into the new season after winning at Angers on their only league trip so far, following a previous campaign in which they collected seven victories from 17 away fixtures.
Their European return was less productive on Wednesday, though, as Haise's side were held to a goalless draw by Sturm Graz, leaving them with a short turnaround before facing Lyon.

Whispers predicts: Lyon 2-1 Rennes
The recent history between these clubs points towards another entertaining contest, while Rennes' attacking stats and Lyon's home advantage make over 2.5 goals at 1.57 (4/7) an appealing starting point.
Les Gones could take time to settle after their midweek European outing, but their ability to create a decisive spell after the interval makes the second half to be the highest-scoring half at 2.00 (1/1) worth considering.
The hosts also have enough attacking quality to find the net twice, making Lyon over 1.5 team goals at 1.73 (8/11) a tempting selection in a fixture where their recent home meetings with Rennes have regularly produced goals.
A 2-1 Lyon victory at 9.00 (8/1) completes the prediction, with home advantage potentially proving decisive in a competitive encounter between two sides that have started the season without a league defeat.
> Over 2.5 goals at 1.57 (4/7) | Likelihood: Probable
> Lyon over 1.5 team goals at 1.73 (8/11) | Likelihood: Possible
> Second half more goals at 2.00 (1/1) | Likelihood: Possible
> Correct score – Lyon 2-1 Rennes at 9.00 (8/1) | Likelihood: Outsider
