Luton will take on Oxford Utd in the Championship on Tuesday, 1 October with Rob Edwards' job back under threat after the Hatters lost to Plymouth on Friday night.
The hosts haven't performed well so far after being relegated to the Championship at the end of last season and are currently just two points above the drop zone.
Oxford United are also new to the division this season following their promotion from League One last season. Unlike Luton, though, they are doing well and are currently just three points away from the top six.
As part of our latest round of Championship betting tips, here is our Luton vs Oxford Utd prediction.

Luton vs Oxford Utd prediction: A big three points incoming for the Hatters
Key Stats
- Luton have won two of their last three matches in the Championship.
- Oxford Utd have failed to win their last two matches in the Championship.
- Three of Luton's last four league matches have produced more than two goals.
Correct score prediction: Luton 2-1 Oxford Utd
Luton need a win on Tuesday night, for their manager more than anything, and they perhaps have the perfect opponents. Oxford Utd have been very good at home this season but their away form has been dire. They have at least scored a goal in all of their away losses, though, so a win to Nil for Luton seems unlikely.
Pre-game odds and win probability: The hosts go in as favourites
- HOME: 4/6 (1.67) – 60%
- DRAW: 29/10 (3.90) – 25.6%
- AWAY: 19/5 (4.80) – 20.8%
*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change
Last season, this would have been a match between a Premier League team and a League One team so it's no surprise that Oxford Utd are still considered the underdogs on Tuesday night. Ladbrokes have given Luton a 60% chance of winning while Oxford Utd have been given a 20.8% chance of winning.

Most recent H2Hs: A first match in five years
This is the first time since 2019 that Luton and Oxford Utd have played each other so both teams now look very different. Back in 2018/19, the two clubs played twice in League One with Luton winning both of them in a memorable year for the club as they ended up winning the league and securing promotion.
Oxford Utd's last win over Luton came in the semi-finals of the EFL trophy in 2017.

Luton preview: Worrying times for Edwards
Rob Edwards has plenty of credit in the bank after taking the team back to the Premier League two years ago but if their poor form continues, then he could find himself in trouble. Luton want to bounce back immediately to the big time so a run of wins in now necessary to climb the table.

Oxford Utd preview: Performing better than expected
Oxford United were expected to take Rotherham's place as the Championship's soft touch this season but they have been far from that so far. Perhaps inspired by Ipswich's double promotion, Oxford are looking up rather than over their shoulder but getting their first win on the road feels like a big hurdle to overcome.

Player to watch: Elijah Adebayo
To say Luton have struggled to adapt to life back in the Championship would be an understatement and it's about time that some of the players who performed well in the Premier League last season showed up. Elijah Adebayo managed to hit double digits in the top flight last season but he is yet to find the back fo the net in the Championship. Can that change on Tuesday night?
