Lukaku vs Kane player duel: Record breaking strikers clash

Tuesday’s friendly between England and Belgium at Wembley should see two of the highest scoring strikers in the international game meet with Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku on opposing sides. We’ve put together a Lukaku vs Kane stats comparison to see how the two strikers stack up.

It’s the England captain who comes into the international break in the better form having fired in six goals in his last three appearances for Bayern. Romelu Lukaku has been less prolific, but he’s still scored some important goals for Roma including strikes against Feyenoord and Brighton in the Europa League over the past month.

Both players have minor injury problems, but both still joined up with their international squads and could go head-to-head on Tuesday night in London.

Lukaku vs Kane H2H stats and betting guide – Stats comparison

Both Romelu Lukaku and Harry Kane boast outstanding goalscoring records in international football. Heading into the March internationals, Kane is England’s all-time record goalscorer on 62 goals from 89 appearances for the Three Lions.

However he lags well behind Lukaku who has struck 83 times for Belgium, smashing the previous record which was just 30. In fact, the powerful striker has scored more international goals than the entire rest of the Belgian squad that was named for the friendlies against the Republic of Ireland and England, with Lukaku striking 14 times in Euro 2024 qualifying alone.

In club football though, Kane has the edge, particularly in recent times with the Englishman scoring 31 times in the 2023/24 Bundesliga at a stunning rate of a goal every 74 minutes. Lukaku by comparison is on 10 Serie A goals this season at a rate of one every 215 minutes.

The Belgian has scored one more goal in European competitions this term, although Kane will be hoping to change that when he takes on old foes Arsenal in the Champions League next month.

Kane also has the edge in the creative department with his ability to drop deeper when required to serve up chances for teammates. He registered three assists at the 2022 World Cup for England and has created seven goals in the Bundesliga and three in the Champions League this term.

Lukaku meanwhile has assisted three goals in Serie A this season and one in the Europa League.

Neither man is particularly prone to getting into trouble with referees, although Lukaku did receive a rare red card in Serie A this season, while he’s been booked three times. Kane meanwhile has been booked just twice since joining Bayern.

In Euro 2024 qualifying, Lukaku received two yellows in eight matches while Kane was booked once in his eight appearances.

Lukaku averaged 3.6 shots per game during the qualifiers compared to Kane’s 2.0. However in league football this season for their respective clubs, Kane is clear on 4.6 shots per game compared to Lukaku’s 2.0.

Lukaku vs Kane H2H stats and betting guide – Who comes out on top?

With this being a friendly and neither man at full match fitness, the Lukaku vs Kane head to head may not turn into much of a spectacle with doubts about either striker’s ability to complete the ninety minutes.

Lukaku’s goalscoring record in international football is sensational, but there can be little doubt that right now Harry Kane is operating on a higher level and if passed fit, he’s more likely to come out on top and settle this match for his team.
