Hot Tip – Liverpool to Win & Both Teams to Score

  • Liverpool have won five of their last seven games against Burnley.
  • Both teams have scored in five of Liverpool's last six outings in all competitions.

Another reason that we have backed Liverpool to win and BTTS as our main prediction is that four of Burnley's last five matches have produced goals at both ends of the pitch.

Liverpool vs Burnley team news

Liverpool

Liverpool's defeat at Arsenal last time out set the title race wide open again. The Reds went in at the break level at a goal apiece following a stoppage-time own goal from Gabriel Magalhães. However, Arsenal controlled the second half and a Liverpool mistake put the home side in front in the sixty-seventh minute with Arsenal confirming their win via a stoppage-time goal from Leandro Trossard.

Ibrahima Konate was sent off late on in that match and will now miss the Burnley game along with the injured Joel Matip, Stefan Bajcetic, Mohamed Salah, Konstantinos Tsimikas, Dominik Szoboszlai and Conor Bradley, while Wataru Endo is still on international duty.

Predicted Lineup: Alisson (GK), van Dijk, Robertson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Jones, Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Jota, Nunez & Díaz

Burnley

Burnley showed great fighting spirit to come from two goals behind at halftime in their last match at home to Fulham. David Fofana scored both of Burnley's goals in the second half to make himself a fan favourite very early on in his Burnley career.

Nathan Redmond, Luca Koleosho, Jordan Beyer, Charlie Taylor and Hannes Delcroix could all miss the trip to Anfield due to injury.

Predicted Lineup: Trafford (GK), O'Shea, Ekdal, Vitinho, Assignon, Brownhill, Berge, Ramsey, Foster, Amdouni & Odobert

Player to Watch: Andrew Robertson

Having full-back Andrew Robertson back from injury will prove a huge boost for Liverpool in the second half of the season.

The Scottish international came on against Arsenal last time out and is expected to start at home to Burnley this weekend, though, he might not make it through the full ninety minutes.

Robertson offers a gaol threat down Liverpool's left-hand side but more than that, he provides plenty of goalscoring opportunities for his teammates with his crossing and ability to get into the box and spot a pass.
