Liverpool vs Arsenal: Why to back Alexander Isak to Score in Premier League clash

Liverpool return to action in the Premier League on Sunday, when they welcome Arsenal to Anfield in a seismic clash.

The Reds are fifth with 15 points, and while Arsenal are in second place with 21 points, a win for the hosts on the weekend would propel them into the title race.

Andoni Iraola's side have won their last five games, so many home supporters will believe that they have a chance of beating the champions.

Though bet365 have priced an Arsenal win more favourably at 11/8 (2.38), there could be value in backing Liverpool at 2/1 (3).

Failure to win would not necessarily take the Reds out of the title race, but it would perhaps indicate that their most realistic target should be securing Champions League football.

Liverpool have not been the most productive team in the Premier League this season given they have scored just 11 goals in eight games.

However, they do at least have a reliable scorer in the final third, with Alexander Isak having scored six goals in seven league appearances this season.

While the Swede has not been especially involved in general play, he has shown elite movement in the penalty area, with his latest strike the opening goal in a 2-0 win against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.

There is a strong argument that Isak is among the best strikers in the world, so there could be value in predicting Alexander Isak to Score at 21/10 (3.1).

Four of Isak's goals have been winners, so he has been hugely influential in terms of getting Liverpool over the line.

The 27-year-old has not played against Arsenal for Liverpool, but he has faced the Gunners five times as a Newcastle United player.

Two games came in the EFL Cup, with the other three coming in the Premier League, and the forward found the back of the net twice in those clashes.
