Whisper+ analysis

Authenticity (3.5/5): Liverpool handed boost in Kerkez pursuit

Liverpool could have a free run at Milos Kerkez following Bournemouth's decision to sign Argentinian prodigy Julio Soler from Lanus. The Cherries' move is being seen as their attempt to proactively find Kerkez's replacement as both young stars play at left-back.

The idea is being floated by This Is Anfield, who believe Bournemouth's new signing may have opened the door for the Hungarian's departure.

Value (3.5/5): Price-tag unlikely to drop

We earlier covered a report that the 21-year-old's suitors may have to spend as much as £50 million to convince Bournemouth to part ways with their prized asset.

A report from The Times recently claimed that Soler is “seen internally as a move towards ensuring the club have two competitive players in each position.” This clearly indicates Bournemouth aren't going to let Kerkez depart without a fight, or more importantly, a significant transfer fee.

Suitability (4.5/5): Liverpool should push for their ideal target

The Hungary international is one of the most technically proficient full-backs in the Premier League, who has the composure and passing range to play in a possession-based side. These qualities make him an ideal target for Arne Slot's Reds, who like to dominate possession, both home and away.

Upgrade? (5/5): Long-term starter

Andrew Robertson's ageing legs and Konstantinos Tsimikas' inconsistent performances have left Liverpool vulnerable on the left flank. On current evidence, Kerkez has the ability to come in and immediately stabilise that area of the pitch, and become a long-term starter at Anfield.

Logic (4.5/5): Much easier for Kerkez to leave

Bournemouth may insist Soler's signing has nothing to do with Kerkez's future. However, it is not far-fetched to assume Andoni Iraola would be more open to letting his current left-back leave following the arrival of the talented Argentine.

Kerkez could choose to stay and fight for his position or look to leave the club for another challenge as soon as possible. Considering his talents, we feel it is best for him to pick the latter option.

Whisper+ verdict: 21/25

Multiple outlets have now claimed that Liverpool want to sign Kerkez, and Bournemouth's decision to swiftly bring in his potential replacement has only made this transfer saga more interesting.
